There is one great place for a designated smoking area, the dump. It already stinks there, there are no children there and throwing butts and packaging on the ground would be fine. Problem solved
Hey I take offense to that. I don't want to breath in your second hand smoke. This ban should include the city dump. Fines should doubled every time someone lights up. Criminals!!!

I do not smoke. I have a daughter who is HIGHLY allergic to smoke. But I think this is going to be a nightmare to enforce. Can you see the city telling all those venders and carnies that they can's smoke during the festival? Good luck to them.. They are gonna need a police force just for the enforcement of this law.

They will probably bring in alot of rent a cops to cover the festival like they did back in the 90s when there was rumors of a big war between out of state gangs during the festival.

As someone stated earlier if they do this during the festival I can see alot of people being turned off to coming back and the festival sinking even further into being crap.

I think your logic is selfish, insensitive, and misinterpretative of anything contained in our Constitution. So big deal, you pay taxes- does let permit you to do anything in the park? Some people like to run around naked. How does that harm kids? Being a taxpayer isn't a ticket to do anything that so clearly has been proven to hurt others. People who smoke are idiots for subjecting their own body to the harmful effects of smoking. It's a free country, if you want to kill yourself, I think it should be your right. People who smoke affecting others are criminals. I don't see much of a difference in subjecting others to second-hand smoke versus driving drunk. Hey, I'm a taxpayer, I'm going to get plastered and drive around on those roads that I helped pave. The people who take their kids and grandchildren to the parks are taxpayers, too. And just exactly where in the Constitution do you hang your hat on an entitlement to smoke, or anything else that's been so clearly proven to be harmful to others? Nobody's saying you can't smoke in your home, yard, car, or any place else that's just yours. I hope this is but a first step in Buckhannon to promote the end of smoking.
Name 2 people who have been harmed by second hand smoke and then prove it. It is as much bullshat as global warming but since the almighty government has told you this ,you as a pawn accept it and let the gov take another individual right.Where do you hang your hat that the constitution says I can't smoke and I have to wear my seatbelt. C'mon grow some testies it is not the matter whether you can or cannot smoke it is the point of the continuing path to dictatorship.

Of all the stupid posts ever appearing here, you just took the cake. The American Medical Association has sponsored and reported a multitude of studies during the past 40 years that steadfastly have proven that secondhand tobacco smoke causes cancer and a host of other illnesses including cancer, asthma, premature births, and the list goes on and on. Here's one AMA link, perhaps someone can read it to you- http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/physician-res...

Here's the American Lung Association's fact sheet on secondhand smoke- http://www.lung.org/stop-smoking/about-smokin...

The American Heart Association's researchers and physicians in one of the most comprehensive studies ever conducted estimate that 46,000 people annually are diagnosed with heart disease caused by secondhand smoke exposure, and another 3,400 develop lung cancer as the result of secondhand smoke- http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/GettingHealthy/...

Go ahead and be a fool, be an ostrich and stick your big dumb head in the sand, but don't spew lies that some other dimwit just may believe while you lobby to be able to kill our children and grandchildren who are out enjoying the fresh air.

I don't really agreed with the new law. Being outside, I can't enough tar in my lungs. It gets way too diluted being outside.

That's why I go to the bars. The Moose is the best because people there smoke like banshies. I save tons of money not having to buy cigarettes but I still reap all the benefits.

Well....first off, you need to find statistics from another country!!! Secondly, they have absolutely no evidence to prove that second hand smoke has ever killed or harmed anyone!!! They just assume it has since it has the potential to do so,they immediately ignore all other hazards as soon as smoking has been mentioned. They also seem to avoid mentioning just how much you would actually have to be exposed to before it would kill you. Also...outside is a whole different story....find statistics from another country about the dangers of second hand smoke outside. I should also mention that it would have to prove the results couldn't have been contaminated by any gasses or fumes from another source that could also cause the same sicknesses!!!

First, I can name two people that were harmed by second hand smoke. My wife and I. And I will prove it to you. Do you have an open mind? I am a retired veteran with over 22 years of service. My wife and I are in great shape. Fifteen years ago my wife and I started going to one of Delaware’s Casinos about once every other month. They allowed smoking and it was smoke filled. After spending the weekend one of us or both of us would always leave with sinus infections, sore throats, cough, headaches. Sometimes we would have to be on antibiotics for the sinus infections.

Then around 2003 Delaware Casinos went 100% smoke free and guess what? When we left the casino we NEVER had any harmful health effects from the lack of second hand smoke. Coincidence? I think not.

The ones that I really felt sorry for were the employees of the casinos, they had to breathe the second hand smoke for their entire shift all the time. Imagine the long term damage it did to the employees. Many of the casino employees started their careers long before the hazards of second hand smoke were proven without a doubt. Should they have to give up their careers because of YOUR filthy harmful smoking addiction? Absolutely Not! Delaware Casinos are still doing a booming business even after going smoke free over 10 years ago.

If I lived in a backward state that still allowed smoking in my workplace I'd have soooooo many lawsuits it wouldn't be funny. The states know the hazards and did NOTHING to protect ALL the employees of the state. What the hell is wrong with them? Shame on them!

This is bull, just trying to take our rights away, i have been to the parks many times and seen people smoking,If you dont want to be subjected to smoke then stay away from the people that is smoking, the parks are a big area and you dont have set right where somebody is smoking, your talking about your kids being around people that smoke, watch your own kids instead of expecting every body in the park to watch them for you,and they wont be around second hand smoke, havent you taught your kids to stay away from strangers. The smoke is going into the air which isnt going to hurt you. I really dont think second hand smoke is going to affect you unless your in a inclosed area,so get over yourself and leave us smokers alone.

I can say this...I am a smoker. However,I do not smoke in my home,we go on our porch.or around children. If I am around people who don't smoke,I am curtuious about it. If I smoke in a public area,I go off away from other people,so no one has to be around it. Also, dont smoke close to an entrance of a building or going thru a drive thru. I don't throw butts out if I can help it. I try to put them out and throw them in a trash can. I feel though however, that some people are disrespectful when it comes to it. Things I see some people do,drive me crazy. But smokers pay taxes on tobacco for a reason, and should be able to have an area the same as "the non-smokers" do!
