I'm 38 years old. Received my blood/urine panel lab test results. I'm worried about my low blood platelet count of 105.

I see my doctor in a week to go over the results in more detail, but that seems like a long time. My WBC and RBC were in the normal ranges.

What's the normal causes for having a low PLTS?

Thanks

My platelet is in mid 60s. Does this cause extreme dizziness? Is anyone out there experiencing this?

. I have a boyfriend that has low platelets due to ITP. I would atleast tell your doctor your concern because you wouldn't want to have any internal bleeding. My boyfriend sometimes gets headaches but its a side effect from his medication. I would get it checked out just to be safe.

My 8 year old son has had his blood tested every Tuesday for the last 5 weeks.(counts have been: 9, 19, 12. 122 and 8). The hematolgitst in MD Anderson wanted us to wait before several weeks before we come in... why does this not seem right?

I have suffered the last couple of years with low platelet count nothing has been done or said. I recently had a blood test and have been told my count is low and need a repeat test in 3months. I am becoming quite concerned as this seems to be ongoing and nothing else seems to be done. I do bruise very easily and have tiny pin marks on my upper arms although not a huge amount. I have not been feeling well and wonder if this is the reason.

I am currently in the hospital with a platelet count of 8 (normal being 150-400). They gave me 60 mg of steroids in pill form, I need to take them for 4 days. I am getting immunoglobulin through an IV. These are the things that they usually do to raise the platelet count. If they don't find success in these procedures then they do a platelet transfusion. Hopefully this information gives you an answer!

Usual causes are: Taking too many NSAIDs, ITP, leukemia. Many other things can cause low platelets, but I believe these are the most common. Mine is due to the NSAIDs they think. I was taking 2 daily and my body created antibodies that are eliminating the wrong things (my platelets!).

I met with my doctor to go over my blood panel and urine test results. I knew my platelets count was low at 105.

He explained that a low platelet count means my body will not clot to heal as fast if I get a cut etc.

He says at 105 he doesn't see a need to treat it. The doctor recommended a healthy diet and more exercise.

He's going to test me again in 6 weeks to see if my count rises. I wasn't eating very well before. I went online to read up on foods that increase platelet counts naturally. Hopefully that fixes.

Well, I'm 18 and I have had low blood platelets for a few years now but never as bad as it is now. I went to the doctor yesterday because my blood vesules have been busting for no reason. I am a senior at Springfield High in Louisiana and I passed out in class 6th hour Monday. At the doctor office the ran a few test and told me to come back next wednesday to see if it's cancer because of how bad its getting. I don't understand how this could happen. Yea, it run's in my family but they only get it when they are oldder. I was pregnate but thanks to this I lost my baby. This has been my second miscarriage this year. You would think that doctors would check more into these things to try and help people but they don't.

I have to take blood thinners for my mechanical heart valve so that I don't get a clot and die. I mention this because the doctors have warned me to avoid dark green vegetables because they thicken my blood.

These vegetables include: any lettuce or greens except for iceberg lettuce, broccoli, green beans, peas anything green like that. I can't have all of my favorite foods but I choose to live so I behave. These foods may help to raise your platelet count, but as always, check with your doctor first.

I have a platelet count of about 60,000 I want to know what I can ask my hemotologist to give me to help raise them. Unfortunately I have a cosmetic issue that needs to be fixed but, my surgeon wont do it until my platelets are higher, I am really desperate. If anyone has any advice or suggestions I would lovew to hear from you.
Thanks so much,
God Bless

My family could really use someone's help here because the doctor's do not know what is wrong. My uncle has been in the hospital for the past 3 weeks and does not produce platelets at all, his blood cannot clot, and he is bleeding from every orifice of his body. They have run so many tests on him here locally, but cannot figure out what the problem is. They want to move him to one of the bigger cities in our state so specialized testing can be done, but they cannot risk him bleeding out due to the the ride being over 6 hours and risking going by helicopter. The only time he feels good is when he is receiving platelets by machine. Can anyone give me any idea as to what is causing him not producing platelets at all? Thank you in advance for your thoughts, ideas and help.
try to check ever med that he is taking see if any of it is causing to lose the platelles hope this can helap we will be praying for him i hade the same thing and when we Prayed God Healed me God BLESS YOU ALL
