It should be said smokers will still eat at a restaurant that bans smoking due to city ordinance. A nonsmoker will not eat in a smoke filled room. Where cities have banned smoking it has not had any negative result on profits. For example McKees i here has a good breakfast but I will not step foot in a smoke filled restaurant..Paris city leaders Give the Restaurant owners a chance to blame someone else and save face all while making Paris a cleaner, healthier township..Smoke in your own environment. People complain about kids who get killed in gun accidents at home and we say all guns should be banned but more die everyday as a result of second hand smoke and no one seems to care we do nothing. At least it is illegal to smoke in a car with kids now.. Make it law to lock up guns at home and make it a law to Smoke in your own environment.
Secondhand smoke is a mixture of gases and fine particles that includesó
Smoke from a burning cigarette, cigar, or pipe tip,1
Smoke that has been exhaled or breathed out by the person or people smoking
More than 7,000 chemicals, including hundreds that are toxic and about 70 that can cause cancer

Actually, you give the perfect reason why this should NOT be passed. You don't like it, so you don't go in. It's your choice. No one forces anyone to go to any particular restaurant. Let private business owners deal with their private property in their own way. The market place will sort it out.

Once it is passed, it will be YOU that needs to make the choice. Don't like the ban- don't go out. No one forces you to go. Stay at home. Use redbox (you can't smoke in a theater anyways). Order a pizza. Save money so you can afford to buy more cigs.

I guess you forgot that some people have to make a choice between working in a hazardous location and not being able to buy food for themselves or their family. With a smoking ban, they no longer have to make that choice anymore. There is no reason why we should have to suffer a bunch of nicotine addicts who suffer so badly from their addiction that they cannot even sit and enjoy a meal with family and friends without pulling out a paper tube filled with a weed, light it and inhale hot, toxic substances and expect the rest of us to think that the stuff that makes us cough and our eyes burn is not going to hurt us.

The council needs to get the smoking out of doorways and sidewalks leading to businesses. I went to Walmart today and an old woman was puffing away on her dang cigarette while waiting for someone to pick her up. She was right at the door. To me, this is worse than inside restaurants. I don't go to restaurants where there is smoking.

Make it law to keep idiots like you from spouting your liberal BS.Make it law to eliminate queers from publicly announcing their sexual desires. Make it law to protect unborn fetus's and at least not for Joe Q Public to pay the cost for the drug dependent whores that continually use abortion as birth control. Make it a felony to text or talk on a cell phone when involved in a wreck. Make it law for gun owners to be allowed kill drug addicted thieves on sight when trespassing on your or any other property. Make it law for every citizen to work for any assistance they receive from any welfare program. Make it law that the government force the low life's who choose to sit idly at home to work for public good cleaning parks streets and highways. Also forcing these POS to do yard work for any tax paying citizen that works in private/public industry and needs or wants the assistance. Make it law to force all over weight obese people to lose weight or lose all insurance and rights to public health care system. How far do you want to go liberal azzwipe we all have agendas that others would find ridiculous. It's not the smoking that got me - was the gun control you want. Of course we all know you libs want all the dope you can put in your body and think we should pay for all your wacked out programs. Screw you -!!

Sorry, Skippy, but it is not up to you. You give up a lot of personal freedoms when you decide to open a business. As a property owner, you have LOTS more regulations than a non business has. There are lots of restrictions on properties, hence zoning laws. That includes residential properties as well as business properties. Try letting your grass grow. Build an outhouse in your front yard. Have loud parties every night. Burn tires out in the open air as a source of heat. You also have to pay taxes on your property based on what it is worth. Your freedom is tempered by your obligations to the society of which you are a part.

As a business owner we reserve the right by law to refuse service to anyone, so the places where the smokers go just refuse to serve no smokers.

OK. I get it.

The 11th commandment: And the Lord sayeth: "Thou shalt smoke."

Actually, I believe if there is a being that you are going to spend eternity with that talks about you smoking, it is NOT the Lord and he is not referring to a cigarette.

Just sayin'

Smoke is not going to be in heaven. Everything is pure there. Smoke is in the other place.

Try refusing service to a black. See where that gets you.

Well, if you answer to the Lord, then you'll have to answer to Him for not obeying the legitimately passed laws of your city, state, and nation (unless those laws are in direct contradiction to scripture, and I don't believe a smoking ban violates scripture anywhere). Read the first 8 or so verses in Romans that admonish us to obey the government.

Thou shall not judge another mans transgressions for vengeance is mine not mans. I don't care if you smoke or not most of my customers smoke and if they want they can. Cars emmit poisons don't drive down my street because I don't want you carbon dioxide in my air. The whole idea of second hand smoke is just silly. We have better things to worry about here. Smoke me if you got them. How is this even going to be enforced.

Is there anything else that people do that you don't personally care for?

I'm sure you have a long list. Forward that to the council so they can attach a rider on the bill. The object of sound public policy, after all, is to ensure that you are never uncomfortable, ever.
