Union Leaders Seek Changes to Health-Care Law
The presidents of the three of the nation's biggest labor unions, who say they have been stonewalled by the White House, are asking Democratic leaders in Congress to change the new health-care law, which they say would otherwise devastate union-sponsored health-insurance plans.

Subsidies are ment for LOW income. Sooner or later a less senior union member will go above that threshold for subsidies just a like a non union employee.
You need cut offs and/or maximum income levels when giving stuff away. And to keep the process fair you must adhere to the rules. Make too many exceptions you are either ignoring the process/law or compensating for a defective law that simply won't work.

A lot of the trade and utility unions still unethically promise or imply a middle class lifestyle which simply isn't feasible or a reasonable expectation. In years past union job employees traditionally leaped from livable income to middle class based on overtime. In most cases neither the work or budget is there. There is no right to 'extra' money.
Unions do fester an unwily sense of entitlement.
