Part-timers to lose pay amid health act's new math

May 6, 2013 | Posted by: Mr_Bill | Full story: www.latimes.com

The law requires large employers offering health insurance to include part-time employees working 30 hours a week or more.

Consider the city of Long Beach. It is limiting most of its 1,600 part-time employees to fewer than 27 hours a week, on average. City officials say that without cutting payroll hours, new health benefits would cost up to $2 million more next year, and that extra expense would trigger layoffs and cutbacks in city services.

Actually, he is pretty good at it. His pals, the Big Union Bosses, promote the idea that wages increase as the supply of labor declines. More than 40 MILLIONS Americans are now recipients of expensive taxpayer funded food stamps. In addition, now that Obama is President and his fellow Big Democrats control the Senate, the taxpayer funded Government "disability" rolls have exploded.

Customer friendly Walmart has promised to hire recently discharged vets within 30 days of their making application for jobs. The Big Union Bosses are roundly criticizing this patriotic undertaking by Walmart, a chain that sells goods to increasingly impoverished overtaxed Americans at prices they can still afford. It seems the Big Union Bosses would rather our vets be jobless, on the dole, and sleeping beneath bridges rather than filling the productive ranks of the hard working worker ("middle") class.

Hey other Guest. I'm lower case guest, LOL.

I think politicians in general are chaos, regardless of party affiliation. It is to the point where we, the people, need to fire them (at the ballot box) and try again.

In my opinion, not only do you assume quite a bit in this post, but most of this is typical conservative drivel.

It doesn't matter what I assume. It only matters if I'm right. You've never run a substantial business in which people are dependent on your decisions for their livelihood. You never will. You are a worker bee, who casts his "boss" as the everlasting paternal figure in your life, so that you can remain a victim, leaving you free from your own scrutiny of why you are more successful.
That is the mark of the liberal democrat drone. Forever yelling at conservatives for not taking care of them, while claiming some kind of perverse moral superiority to mitigate their own personal deficits.
That's your life. It's miserable, but it beats going out in the world and staking your claim, since you're convinced you'd fail.
Find above a lot of assumptions that are right on the money.

Agree, and we get to keep doing the same thing. However, now we'll just get to pay more. Even the slowest progressive knows their health insurance will go up between 20-60% in the next 4 years. Maybe your company will cover it, maybe not. The only safe ones are federal employees.
No.`Before we were paying for all freeloaders, employed and unemploed. Now we will only pay for unemployed and welfare. A big slice of freoaders will now pay.

That is the reason for the subject of this article. Please reflect upon it.

And, FYI, health costs have leveled off. I am waiting for the news to break before I can post that, but keep watching!

Why argue. We are so ignorant that we ignored the Union Ownership Label on the politicians. No rational person can expect the Teachers Union to make what is best for the students a priority. What part of Union don't people understand?

Unions are the smallest part of our problen, and the good they do far exceeds any abuse.

Worried about who owns your politicians?

It is corporate power that pulls the strings on our government, not the 'teachers' Union.'

And you, teachers care very much about what is best for their students, and fight for them, and go into their own pocket for them.

You are a nasty, ignorant fool who would do well to die, and come back as a roach.

Really? And how's that worked out for you? I see you learned how to type. You've betrayed yourself as a union pansy, so there's really nothing more for you to say around here, you worthless stinking piece of subhuman stinkpot. Go out to the mailbox. Your government welfare check is here. Cheap beer doesn't buy itself.

In order to be successful, revolutions must retain the symbols of the regime that has been overthrown. Examples of that abound since the 60s 70s revolutionaries came to power. That Big Union Bosses represent the interests of the worker ("middle") class is just one. When was the last time anyone heard of the Big Union Bosses not favoring the Big Government revolutionary ruling class heaping ever increasing property and tobacco taxes on the increasingly impoverished post-revolution American worker ("middle") class? Few of our memories are that good.

there is not even one state in this country that a person making minimum wage could afford rent.
.
80% of walmart employees get foodstamps, as well as federally funded healthcare.
.
so, how does it feel to know that your tax dollars are supporting low-wage workers?
and that the money you spend at walmart goes to pay china for their crappy goods?
.
.
and you can thank the union for sick pay, 40 hour work-weeks, overtime pay, etc, etc., etc.
.
.
.
.
but of course you're right; as long as the poor stay poor then all will be well. O_o

So what? Just because a worker starts as a minimum wage employee doesn't mean he is destined to remain at that level of pay. Or have the radical 60s 70s era revolutionary ruling class (now in power) imposed restrictive labor laws requiring entry level employees to remain at entry level pay?

As far as receiving taxpayer funded food-stamps, housing payments, and expensive "free" taxpayer provided Obama phones goes - not to speak of taxpayer provided lifelong "disability" support - there are whole northern cities filled to overflowing with Africans who are "plugged into the system", including the increasingly violent and destructive African children of dangerous fast-breeding "players".

I suspect most overtaxed Americans would prefer their hard earned tax money be spent on our returning vets who are eager to do productive labor until they gain the skills needed to advance to higher pay grades than wasted on the life-long support of the violent children of "the players" and taxpayer supported Baby African Mamas.

Ronald, did this current president start the free phone program? Was he the mastermind behind it?

Minimum wage people are expected to pull themselves up by their boot straps and work harder for their masters...this is the 'murican way.
(and thus increase productivity so the executives get a million dollar bonus, while the worker stays at poverty levels)

They aren't called "Obama Phones" and Obama isn't known as the "Food Stamp President" for nothing.
