been using proactive for about 3 days... I did all the steps and slept in the refining mask last night... Woke up and my eyes were swollen almost shut. I'm leaning more toward all the benzoyl peroxide in it. Read online a allergic reaction to benzoyl was swelling. Anyone had this issue with proactive before? What did/would you do? I haven't put a thing on my face since then but cool water. Afraid of which part of the product caused this :/

I had a similar reaction last week I didn't use it the next day, just used water as well but I've used it ever since with the exception of the refining mask, I'd just use it for the 10 mins or whatever it says instead of overnight.

@madison-- if it hasn't gone down by now, make sure you ice it, it took my swelling down.. today around my eyes are dry, red, and peeling. I am still convinced its the benzoyl in the first step. But I'm still trying to figure out if its because I slept in the mask. never doing that again! I'm still afraid to even use any of the product. but, defiantly use moisturizer around your eyes so they dont turn out rough and peeling like mine :(

@brandy-- I don't even think I'm gonna use it anymore. I'm afraid of whatever it is caused it since I'm not sure... the normal wash, the first step and the repairing lotion both have benzoyl peroxide in them, 1 in 3 people are allergic to it. I think I'm only going to use the toner and moisturizer and toss the rest :/

I wouldn't reccomend this to anyone even with the worst skin!! I am a fan of their moisturizer but as far as cleanser.. I'll stick with just cool water. my skin too is very sensitive. it's now peeling like a sun burn :(

Yes, my daughter used it for 3 days and followed the directions and her cheeks are red with bumps and burning and itching bad. I am returning the product, called Pro Activ and informed them.

sad thing about proactive.. they will continue to charge and send it to you every month regardless of how many times you cancel. so I suggest notifying your bank as well :) and a tip for your daughter, she should wear makeup for a couple days and ONLY use cool water to wash. the moisturizer from proactive won't break her out so i suggest her use that because her face will get really dry and peel like a sunburn :/ bless her heart.

It only lasted a day for me, by night time the swelling was gone.. I don't even know why I used it to begin with.. I don't even have bad acne just an occasional breakout.. best bet is to just use it once or twice a week and don't leave the refining mask on overnight, if that doesn't work I would eliminate any of it with the benzoyl peroxide in it period! 1 in 3 people are allergic to it!

i am definitely never using it again! I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide because this has happened one time before last year but i used acnefree which has it in it, i wasn't sure what i was allergic to but i stop using it and here a year later, i know for sure what it is. thankfully this now day four of when i found myself as a person who looked like i had been punched all around my face, i can laugh about it now,but it wasn't so fun, i had to stay home from school on monday and yesterday people didn't really notice. i put olive oil on it I RECOMMEND THAT to anyone who has a allegoric reaction similar to mine. take Benadryl twice every 4 hours until it complete goes away, and put cortisone 4 times a day it makes it soooo much better i promise, as for the sandpapery face and lips, again, olive oil will to the trick its 100% safe to use, also ICE ICE ICE. i wish someone had told me all of those steps on sunday, oh well, good luck to anyone who has this reaction right now, you will get through it, its 95% normal my check are a little red and checks a bit puffy but other than that, i have recovered.

How long did your reaction last? My face has been swollen, red and itchy now for 3days now with no sign of relief!

I used proactiv many years ago never had a problem but for the past four years I have been using natural things to cleanse my face. On Sunday I decided to use the repairing lotion because my cheek had broken out a little. By the evening it felt like my face was on fire it was rashy and swollen. It's Tuesday and my eyes and face are still swollen and my face itches a little still. Hopefully it goes away soon, I hate having to go to work like this

Used proactive the first day I got it! Went to bed ... Woke up barley could I open my eyes.. Look in the mirror, my eyes were super puffy! And red! Not a fan of pro active ... I'll have to figure something else for my skin.... Drinking a lot of water always helps my skin though
