Im on day 13 of treatment (amoxicillin, clarithromicon, pantoloc) for h.pylori and glad I came across this forum. The first week of antibiotics went rather well. I was in the hospital for the first 6 days of treatment, but on the 7th day of treatment started to feel tired and gassy. Worst smelling bombs I've ever dropped in my life. It's like dead rats are living in my ass. Anyways, the side effects continued to increase daily till the point I searched for answers and found this thread. Right now I lay on the couch, nauseous, weak and tired. Diarrhea is at it's worst and I have zero appetite. Thankfully only one more day of these nasty pills to go. Any idea when I can start to feel better? Will it take some time, or will I start to feel better as soon as I stop? I sure hope this works and h.pylori is gone. To those that have felt no side effects, consider yourselves lucky. To those like me, who are suffering, stick through it. Stopping treatment only helps the bacteria become more resistant to antibiotics.

Have finished 2 sets of antibiotics and a course of acid reducing tablets and my tummy still feel the same.....like I've got little gremlins tearing my tummy apart. I too tested for h pylori from a stool test. Terrified I will never be cured of this dam thing. I've heard extra virgin pine nut oil is able to eradicate these little pests. Has anyone giving this a go??

As you probably know, I was so ill with the 3 combo antibiotics that I stopped taking after 2 days and tried herbal supplements, which I took for 4 months (and ma still taking). 1 month ago I went to the clinic for a blood and faeces test to see if the pylori was still present. It isn't, it's gone.
Here's what I took twice daily:
Slippery Elm
Mastic Gum
DGL (licorice extract)
Garlic (helps kill bacteria and is also good for blood)
Psyllium caps (extra fibre as I had diarrhea for months)
1 pot Manuka honey +15 (but no more as too expensive).
I have a duodenal ulcer, which pains me sometimes, but it snot too bad - I think the supplements keep it at bay.
I didn't alter my diet at all, as I already eat plenty of fruit and veg, very little meat (and hardly ever red,)little dairy (the occasional egg and some cheese, milk in tea) and little glutin (occasional slice of (wholegrain) bread. I drink fruit-juice, English tea and wine (probably too much):-) No coffee (but I would if I liked it!)
Either way, the H Pylori has gone WITHOUT the deadly antibiotics they give you (which I swore I would never take again and which kill all the good bacteria too).
Hope this helps someone...
Hi andrea ,
I was diagonosed with H pylori just yesterday .. I became ill last October so nearly a year and let it go . To the point now where I have had to stop everything I have no energy , im constantly nausea , burning pains . vomiting.. Finally yesterday I was told what it was although I had earlier on gone to an iridologist and he also picked up a virus. he immediately gave me vitamins to begin , but now my doctor has prescribed Nexium HP7.. I am very weary on taking this so I am very interested how you fought it I have been looking on here and some say you need to triple the amount of vitamins you take daily .. so what exactly did you take .. and with the manuka honey how much did you take.. I have changed my diet erratically . so no gluten and no dairy , no eggs .. and told my the natural path no sugars.. love to know more on how you got rid of this..if you could email me my email is [email protected]

thank you so much

Hi
It does get better, I am 53yr old male who for all of my life I thought I was level headed and able to handle lifes down times, nothing but time and a few asprins could take care of.
This HP stuff had me thinking of all the wrongs of past, people I mislead, hurt. this HP really brought dark things to front. and I could not control it.
It does get better, my life is different because of it and I thank GOD! no more dark feeling.
Be good to yourself and if you can read the good Book or find a good station on the internet about Gods grace.

Hi, I've just finished my second treatment same as the last but stronger dose, clarithromycin + metronidazole + pantoprazole, I had nexium instead of the pantoprazole the first time. The only symptoms I had were similar to coeliac disease, occasional heartburn not that bad, bit of bloating but constant diarrhoea no matter what I ate, so I had an endo/colonoscopy, all normal other than the h pylori. First treatment I felt fluish and funny in the head, loss of appetite, metallic taste and the nexium gave me migranes, I was pretty down with the whole thing. This time around I really hope it's worked as it was worse than the first treatment, I've had nausea, diarrhoea, metallic taste, I cried a lot and I still feel funny, I can't explain it maybe depression, a nice bout of thrush and I'm pretty sure it's in my throat too. I'm really hoping that I'll perk back up after it's all out of my system, I'm usually a happy person, and I've been short with my partner when usually I wouldn't and I feel terrible, but I have to wait until september for a breath test, im hoping that doesn't mean that it will take that long to be out of my system. I'm so over this, I won't be treated again by the doctor if it hasn't worked this time because I'm allergic to penicillin.
Was great to find this forum, but a lot of people here had definite symptoms and no adverse side effects. I felt like all I have been doing is complaining but, strange as it sounds, nice to not be the only one.
UPDATE:
Had breath test last week, doctors today. Results were positive again! So my second triple treatment failed. All that feeling like shit for nothing. I changed doctors due to moving house and my new one has prescribed another triple treatment with a different pump inhibitor yet again. I am going back to my old doctor tomorrow and I have left a message with my Gastro specialist for second opinions. Right now I'd rather deal with the crippling lower abdominal pain and diarrhea than suffer through another bout of antibiotics, but as it comes back it gets worse and worse. I've mentioned before that I'm allergic to penicillin, so does anyone know what I can actually do if my h pylori strain is resistant to the only antibiotics I can take? My old doctor mentioned to me when he prescribed my second treatment that if it failed a second time he would refer me to infectious diseases, does this sound right? I have no idea and I asked my new doctor, she sort of screwed her face up and said that wasn't necessary...
Has anyone had it fail more than once and what did your doctor do about it?

This time around on your third treatment demand that your doctor add bismuth compound to your regimen. The bismuth makes the eradication more effective. Also drink unsweetened 100% cranberry juice each day as the cranberry has been shown to allow for successful eradication along with anti-biotics.

In doing research, I came across a Dr. that states that there are many different strains of HP. That's why it's so difficult to treat. They do not have antibiotics for each strain. That's why many strains do not die & people get bombarded with antibiotics.

There are strains that are now resistant to antibiotics. I think that is why it's important to find supplements that help the antibiotics.

Coconut water (not the milk) has anti-microbial properties. Anyone interested, here is a website listing all the good properties in this water. I don't sell it. I just drink it.

Also, has anyone been given Cipro for HP? I tolerate it well & was wondering.

Anthea, I'm sorry but there's no way I would go through a third round of antibiotics if the first 2 failed & you've suffered so much. Read Adriana's post on this page. She is obviously a person that shows that HP can be conquered without antibiotics. She changed her diet, took supplements, natural anti-microbials such as garlic & ginger
(I would add coconut water & papaya enzymes plus potato water) & possibly see a naturopathic doctor to help your body heal itself instead of getting blasted by antibiotics that cause tremendous suffering. Yes, it would be nice to pop a few pills & HP is gone. But there are some of us that can't. This will be a lifestyle change for you but you can get well & stay well. And at this point what do you have to lose? Of course you must decide for yourself but if it were me, I wouldn't look at another antibiotic until I've exhausted all natural remedies. Good luck.

Guys,
Boil neem leaves and cool the water and drink two glasses of the juice and the bacteria would be gone. This is a best cure for the H. Pylori. Google it up and give it a shot.

Has this been PROVEN? Did you have any personal experience using these neem leaves successfully? You all need to stop misleading people with all these nonsense!

did your hives clear up?
MrCKS wrote:
I had an outbreak of Urticaria (Hives) which got progressively worse over several months. Aside from the hives, I was asymptomatic. At first I thought it was allergic, but there was no discernible pattern to the outbreaks. I then went for a series of allergy tests and tested positive to Hp.
I've just finished the 7 Day Triple Therapy (Clarithromycin, Amoxycillin and Omeprazole)- side effects were the metallic taste in the mouth, dry sore throat, and constipation. I did have a little blood in my stools towards the end of the therapy, but I think this is due to inflamed hemorrhoids from the constipation - I'll be monitoring over the next week before notifying the Doc. The hives remained throughout the course of antibiotics, but they are also listed as a side effect of the therapy. I didn't experience any stomach-related problems, or nausea etc.
I've just started on probiotics (Prodophilus) and am due for the Hp breath test in 4 weeks. I am really hoping the hives are related to the Hp infection...
