To your response...The surgery obviously itself is nothing they put you under. When you wake up I felt fine...yes My throat hurt on a scale from 1-10 10 is the highest pain I would say a 4...I went home in less than 4 hours and felt find, the pain medication worked great and I was eating soup (slowly) and sipping gatoraide. The first 2-3 days my pain was in the 5-6 category but it wasn't torture...now my ent doctor told me that this is common....the 4th-6th day I wanted to just give up! Not trying to scare you anytime I swallowed (which you will do a lot of) it hurt to a level 9 the pain meds couldnt touch the pain! And I literally couldnt eat when I tried the pain level hit a 10! After the 6th day every day it got much much easier!! And about day 10 I could eat pretty much everything I was eating before..with level 3-4 pain...and at 2 weeks I was fine! I had NO complications I had a very easy and lucky experience. Hope This helps! Good Luck and don't be scared

are you able to choice and decide ?
but after the operation;: take your time to wake up :) if you are halve asleep still, it could be spooky to open your eyes with bood all over your mouth. nurses also seem to be very powerful.
but the presents you get and unwrap in bed :)

to answer your question you don't feel anything during the surgery only after for me it was slightly different because my throat didn't stop bleeding and i had to stay at the hospital an extra day in stead of going home after the surgery. they gave me two medicines to kill the pain (didn't really help). One was terrible and one tasted like bubble gum. Listen you may be scared but it's worth it. Having abnormally big tonsils could potentially kill you.

My brother had his tonsils removed 2 1/2 weeks later he passed away.....During the time of his surgery after he came home he couldn't eat or drink anything and he was constantly spitting up blood.....My advice to anyone is if you don't truly need the surgery then please don't get it.....I miss my brother so very much and I hate that he had to suffer the way that he did

Talking about streptococcal pharyngitis, im pretty sure it is worth it to do the surgery. I read a short article on www.healthnumberone.com where they pointed out the risks of later complications of not-correctly diagnosed and treated streptococcal infections of the throat, and some points to try to differentiate a viral infection from bacterial infection of the throat. Guess it would be good to get rid of these bacterial streptococcal infections!

It's different for everybody else. Day one for me was a breeze! Day two and three were less comfortable! On day three you should have some ear pain kicking in. The ear pain will be a lot less if you don't take a lot of dairy. For me in the night of day 2 I was throwing up, about 2-3 times although nothing really came out. If you have severe blood loss from your throat, I recommend sucking on ice and if it doesn't slow down within five minutes you need to go to the emergency room immediately. Day 4-6 were excepted. Slowly getting better. But on day seven I experienced extreme stinging pain in the throat. That pain lasts about 3 days (don't worry it's most likely just your scabs coming off) I'm on day 9 of having my tonsils removed and it's pretty bad, but it's getting better. I recommend staying on top of your medication, drinking lots of ice water and Gatorade with ice, and trying to eat as often as you can! Good luck to you if your getting your tonsils removed! The pain goes away eventually :)

I am 24 years old and got my tonsils out a few months ago and almost died because of complications and extreme blood loss from a blood vessel opening up in my throat near my artery in my sleep which resulted in 3 surgerys after the actual tonsillectomy.I would not recommend getting your tonsils out unless extreme circumstances, and do your research on the best ENT's.
