When the CFC inhalers run out..I'll be in the emergency room every other day if not every day. That is NO exageration. HFA's do NOT help me in ANY way in fact they make my attacks somewhat WORSE. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE COME TO THEIR SENSE. This ban on CFC inhalers MUST end or people WILL die because of improper medication.

I too have had to change the new inhalers back to the old ones as the new were making me much worse. Many of the new ones contain Lactose which many asthmatics are allergic to. I am trying to contact as many places as possible, including The Australian Asthma Conference 20 - 21Oct 2008 to tell them of our fears re: phasing out the old drugs - I am from the UK but this is a global issue!!!!!!

I too am not happy about this draconian switch but don't forget your nebulizer machines. Although not as convenient, they should keep you out of the ER.

I too had severe negative reactions to HFA inhalers. For the months that I used the HFA inhalers I was very very sick and now I am trying to recover from the damage to my lungs--(I may have permanent lung damage)-- I'm not sure what the long term affects are yet. I have attempted to let the media and political officials know my personal experience. Unfortunately no one is listening, or better stated-- they don't want to listen!!! I have a feeling that the "powers that be" in this "CFC inhalers prohibition" are waiting until a certian amount of people die before they take action. In the meantime all asthmatics are on their own..which means they are in BIG trouble!! I'm sure that eventually there will be blackmarkets for CFC inhalers--

I agree this is a global issue and something must be done... I have tried unsuccessfully to make a difference,-- perhaps if all of us that have negative experiences come together something will be done. There are many sites online, but no one has banned together to have one voice!!! Lets get together!!! How does Friday, February 13, 2009 sound as a day to protests the CFC prohibition!!-- any ideas??

A one day protest will accomplish nothing. It will be forgotten within a week. The ONLY thing that will work is a consistent, steadily increasing phone call, email, and fax campaign to Congress and the Administration to amend the Clean Air Act to permanently legalize CFC inhalers. This is what we are doing over the next two years. If our press releases (which will begin early in 2009) succeed in recruiting even one percent of the nation's 40 million asthma/pulmonary patients- we will be able to defeat Senators and Congressman who do not support us in the November 2010 elections.

We need to AMEND the Clean Air Act.

We need to ABROGATE certain provisions of the Montreal Protocol.

This will be a long, tough political campaign, but we have the numbers to win.

Lawsuits won't work.

One day protests won't work. They are a dime a dozen.

Hundreds of Thousands of organized voters calling their FOUR POLITICAL TARGETS (White House, Two Senators, Representative) WILL work.(Our site makes this easy to do.)

I was nearly hospitalized recently because my albuterol wasn't working. I went to the doctors and he said it was the inhaler. He gave my proventil and I was better. I am also dealing with a yeast infection in my mouth, caused by several puffs of albuteral that landed in mouth and throat instead of my bronchial tubes. This decision put my health at risk
I am as green as the next person, but asthmatics need to breath!

I have accumulated 25 CFC albutoral inhalers to use over the next year or two. When they are gone I will have to get an albuteror inhaler--unless enough of us LET THEM HEAR IT. The ban was postponed before, and it can be postponed again.

I know this is an old thread but I need help. I can't breathe. HFA inhalers do not help me. I found this site to be helpful:

http://www.savecfcinhalers.org/SIGN_THE_PETIT...

I just signed the petition and donated what I could. At least someone is on our side trying to help us.

I have ordered prescription drugs (without a prescription) online from http://inhousegeneric.info about two years ago, and was pleased with the speed and quality of service.
I'm thinking of doing the same thing with my medication. The meds is expensive, but there is a generic version available overseas.
I love the idea of taking responsibility for my own health (or lack of health) and skipping the bureaucracy... to say nothing of having to drive to the doctor, wait in line, yet again, to get a prescription refilled.

Naturally, I am skeptical of everything online. http://inhousegeneric.com is legitimate. I placed my first order for the smallest amount possible. It arrived sooner than expected. I didn't pay the extra money for speedy air mail. I placed another order that was much larger and it came right on time. I will definitely use this company again for even larger orders now that I trust them. They also give you discounts every time you place an order which is cool. One thing to keep in mind is if you place a larger order, they will send half in one shipment, and then the other half after that to avoid customs scrutinizing your package. I am very happy, I no longer need to pay tons of money to see a doctor and therapist (and have them tell me a bunch of stuff I already know) in order to get my medication.
