Dear Dr. Gott: What are some of the side effects of prednisone or an overdose of it? My elderly dad is fairly healthy.

Have been taking 10 mg. prednisone for arthritis symptoms for a few weeks now up from 5 mg. on a daily basis. Doctor said when my fever went away I could taper off prednisone. How do I do this and how long will it take me to get to 5 mg. from 10 mg? Thanks.
