What's the difference? A cigarette is "just a device to deliver a drug" also. If you have an overwhelming need to poison your lungs with something, I'd rather you poison yourself with a device that doesn't pollute the air I must breathe.

Could this mean the end of the cigarette break as we know it? Could addicts stay at their desks and be productive all day instead of stealing 15 minutes per hour to get their fix? Could I get through the day without having to pick up the slack of those who have disappeared in a puff of smoke AND be secondand third-hand smoke free too? As a life long non-smoker this is almost too much to dream.

This device does NOT pollute the air.... all that is exhaled is water vapor.... I assume that a steam room or sauna pollutes the air then??? This honestly does work and gives people the ability to change their lives witout affecting yours...

This is the greatest product in a long time. No butts for us to look at, no friends that stink when they come back from a break, and no fires.

I'm a non-smoker, but come on people! Who cares about what smokers are doing as long as it isn't stinking up the air around me? Let them be!

Reading comprehension Dustin... he's saying he would prefer that smokers use e-cigs so it DOESN'T stink up the air around him.

To e-cigarette users: Aren't you concerned that this product lacks FDA approval? ALSO: Given China's (e-cigarette point of manufacture) abyssmal track record I would be suspicious of what else might be in the nicotene module. Lead, radiator coolant, radioactive metal and who know what else, you only have the Chinese manufacturer's word that the product is safe for use.

Seems the only people against it are ones who have a problem with SEEING people "smoke".

Seeing someone "smoke" is all that happens with the E cig. It is the non-smokers' dream come true....except of course... for the antismoking antitobacco lobbyists like Kiser.

In fact, she doesn't have a point at all.
There's no tobacco in this product whatsoever.
If Ms. Kiser eats certain vegetables, she is ingesting nicotine herself.

Also, where in this city is there "clean air"..?

This E cigarette will probably help bring back loyal smoking customers who felt ostracized by the smoking bans.
Non-smokers don't necessarily embrace these smoking bans either when their friends are no longer patronizing places because of the ban.

Not to mention people like myself who work in the entertainment business.

Considering the senior citizens "script drug runs" to Canada and Mexico that were popular a few years back...not really.

Cigarettes are NOT FDA approved either, AND are plainly marked that THEY CAUSE CANCER! E-smokes contain only one thing that is even remotely bad for you, and thats the nicotine. www.EcoFriendlySmokes.com
There is even a no-nicotine option with the E cigarettes also.

Wonder if Kiser partakes in any of the following plants below.....

This is interesting here:

http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/extract/3...

"There is considerable evidence that nicotine is present in certain human foods, especially plants from the family Solanaceae (such as potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant). Castro and Monji,2 Sheen,3 and Davis et al.4 have reported on the nicotine content of foods and drinks. "

http://www.citeulike.org/user/kgale/article/2...

"Abstract: This investigation was initiated as a result of proposals in the literature that dietary nicotine intake could contribute to the level of nicotine metabolites in biological fluids such as salivary cotinine concentration. Nicotine concentration was determined in several frequently consumed vegetables from the nightshade family (Solanaceae)(i.e., tomatoes, potatoes, aubergines, and peppers), as well as in some of their processed products. The edible Solanaceae fruit analyzed in this investigation were found to contain relatively consistent amounts of nicotine in the range of 2-7 g/kg for fresh fruits. Nevertheless, the nicotine concentrations of the investigated tomato varieties decreased significantly with increasing degree of ripening of the fruits. In addition, a variety of black as well as green teas was investigated for the nicotine content. Nicotine content in tea leaves was found to be highly variable and sometimes much larger than in the Solanaceae fruits. On the basis of the observed concentrations and the respective food consumption data for different countries, a distributive analysis of the results suggests that the mean daily dietary nicotine intake for the population of the countries for which consumption data were available is approximately 1.4 g/day, 2.25 g/day at the 95th percentile."

I have to agree with most of the positive comments to the e-cigarette. I just started using one 3 weeks ago, and have cut down on my tobacco cigarette usage by over 70%. I can be a part of family functions, as I'm not constantly outside sneeking a cigarette, and personally, even though the e-juice (the liquid that is actually vaporized) may or may not be harmful to me, I know that the smoke in a traditional cigarette is harmful to me as first hand smoke, and harmful to others around me as second hand smoke. So, yes, I would rather save $30 a week by not smoking as many tobaco cigarettes that I KNOW cause cancer, and use my e-cigarette, which is probably better for me, considering that I need to feed my addiction to nicotine somehow. While specifically not marketed as a smoking cessation product, it does seem to work as one. Also, the e-juice is available as a made in U.S.A. product as well as a Chinese made product. Heck, you can even make your own e-juice, as there are only about 20 ingrediants involved.

The main danger of them is that they are in direct competition with the people who spent huge sums of money to get all the smoking bans. They are getting a free ride. This is why they MUST be banned.

Must be banned? These products are completely different then their tobacco-based counterparts...

- contains NO tobacco
- produces NO first or second hand smoke
- contains NO carcinogens

The people that want these products banned are the ones that stand to lose money! The tobacco industry! When what they should be doing is manufacturing their OWN brand of these products!

If they only spent as much time working towards a better society in this world and ending the corruption and ungodliness as they do attacking smokers. Did you ever hear the Bible saying to remove the log that is in thy own eye first?

There's that too.
However, I have no heard of tobacco industry lobbying against the E cigarette, only antismoking lobbyists making statements against it.

If those two organizations got in bed with each other over this...well that would reveal many hidden truths about BOTH organizations.

David, I think that other poster was simply being sarcastic concerning the antismoking organizations.

Like I said...to date, they are the only ones complaining about it.

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Cancer

Someone dear to your heart isn't exactly a barrel of laughs today, are they? Is it your imagination or are they taking a perverse delight in spreading doom and gloom in all directions? If they've got good reason to be miserable then they deserve your sympathy, but even so it may not last for long. Try to keep active and cheerful, otherwise you'll also develop a tendency to brood.
