Well, this might be good news to osteoarthritis-inflicted individuals. Having early access to a hip replacement surgery will give them the continued benefits of an active lifestyle. However, they should probably weigh first if it is the solution for them as complications arise from this type of surgery. Reports say that the hip prostheses implanted especially the metal-on-metal type caused severe side-effects such as inflammation, pain, and metallosis. I came across this site that has comprehensive articles regarding complications that you may get from a hip replacement operation; http://amandahiggs.wordpress.com/2013/02/03/s...

Many men and women are unsure when to get a hip replacement. Getting a hip replacement early might indeed be more cost effective. I think I read at the depuypinnaclelawsuit.com that there are many who have experienced metal poisoning because of their metal hip implants.

The study may be right, but many may not be convinced. It is not easy to lose a natural part of your body. And right now, doctors have standards as to when surgeries are required. If there is still hope for an osteoarthritis patient, then everyhting must be exerted to save the natural hips. The researchers may also be referring to the MOM implants when they said implants may last a lifetime. Maybe the study was made before the masive failures of products such as the DePuy ASR hip systems. Perhaps a more in-depth and up-to-date study on this should be made.More about the failures of the metal implants may be learned from DePuy ASR hip lawsuit information center.
