yeah, now there is an idea, how about people who have accidentially gotten addicted to pain killers, like most who have gotten into the clinic have, let's put them down.see, i go to the clinic, and i was in a bad car accident, and started getting pain medication prescribed to me, and really needed them.when i tried to stop, i was already too far addicted. my addiction was really bad, and i didn't ask to become an addict. that is just the way my life went. see, before the accident, i never did any drugs, and rarely ever drank alcohol.most of the people that go to the clinic, their stories are just like mine.the clinic has changed my life.my life has changed drastically since getting into the clinic.so ignorant people, like yourself, have no idea what you are even talking about.you just wanted to start a thread about the methadone clinic, and obviously don't know anything about it.

I don't believe this crap for one second!! There is not one person I have ever known that has gone to a methadone clinic that it helps, just gives them another way to get high!!

Boy, your not a rocket scientist are you? Nice assumption you jumped to by my picture. I have an ideal, read over your post, and make a new assumption using my name. Then put my name and the picture together and you will see why you fail.

And the answer to the question you seek, Once and addict ALWAYS an addict. and at least I am human enough to allow euthanasia. Stoning is just too damn messy anymore.

By the way, watch the movie "Dogma", and you will find out where "Buddy Jesus" comes from.

It does work, if you want it to work! But you really have to want to quit. Methadone is a very hard drug to detox from though. In all honesty, the best way to quit is cold turkey! It's hard, you will be extremely sick, and it's very very painful but IT IS POSSIBLE. I did methadone, it worked for me, but I ended up relapsing not long after. I finally quit cold turkey. I've been clean 3 years in November!!!!

It is only mean because it is truthful. Sorry life is cruel by nature, and I don't make the rules. I only follow them.

and I guarantee, that if you was placed in a situation where you was alone or even had access to more opiates you would go right back to it. You are a slave to them now. You will NEVER give them up.

I go to the Methadone Clinic and it has helped me so much. Now, I see things more clearly and I have my life straightened out. I wouldn't go back to the life of flashing lights and loud noise if someone paid me 1 million! I love my life now and if you've ever been there you know where Im coming from. You know what the difference is. All these ppl on here who act like its just another way to get high are really just uneducated and don't want help! Thats exactly the way I saw things when I was on every fix I could get. I just didn't understand it. But you know, I took that chance and I am so thankful i did. Cause now, I have a newfound way of life! At, least we are trying and not out there on the streets going to jail everytime we go down the road. And we know its there every day and not have to worry if my dealers ran out of oxys or not... So, don't be quick to judge us, cause only God can do that.

I know of people you are talking about. But there are those who are really trying to get help. It's about 50/50. So you are only partially correct.

I am going to leave an educated response to this post. In some ways, yes, I think that the Methadone Clinic is just trading in one drug for another. But, then again, I have seen people with my own two beautiful green eyes, stay clean after they leave the clinic.

It is possible to become addicted to medication and not know that it is happening. I, myself, was involved in a surgery that went terribly bad. I was on pain killers every hour AND a pain pump. This went on for the entire TWO months I was in the hospital. Then, I was on home health care. I was given pain shots through my IV and had pain meds on hand, if needed. Believe me, they were. I had a hole the size of the grand canyon on my stomach. I was taking Oxy 80's. I was slowly weaned off pain medication. My doctor sat me down and told me I was addicted. I had no clue. I was IN PAIN. So, he began to slowly wean me. I went from Oxy 80's to 40's to 20's,to 5's. Then I made my way through Percocets, Loretabs, Darvocets, and Ultrams. It was a horrible experience for me.

You can get addicted and NOT know that it's happening. I am proof of that statement.

Why don't you read the BIBLE instead of basing your opinions off of a movie? You sound like a real live rocket scientist yourself there BUDDY! Do you even know what addiction is??? Do you have children or anyone close to you that you love? Maybe not, you sound pretty miserable and alone but I'm just saying, if you did, you would not want to see that person dead because a drug has control over their life. There is help and hope, even for chronic a$$holism, which is what you seem to have. Smile...Jesus loves you sunshine!

I do agree with one thing that Baphomet said though "Once an addict, always an addict". That is true. Whether we are recovered or not, we are always addicts! It's a disease that we will never be completely cured of but we can manage it. It's like a lion sleeping inside of us, that lion wakes up from time to time. We have to be strong enough to just let it go back to sleep and not feed it! I still to this day get urges every now and then. I will have a dream or some kind of trigger. Almost 3 yrs clean, and it's still there. I've just learned how to handle it now! I do believe methadone works for alot of people though. But I think I've seen more people fail on it than I've seen succeed. I really hate to admit that.

Obviously, you are the "typical" person that uses' media outlets' to form your opinions'.

If you were not the typical "follower", then you would take the time to do some reseach that lead you to form a more educated and believable post.

Obviously you do not know EVERYONE that has participated in MMT. Therefore, you cannot base an opinion on the few addicts' that you supposedly know. Its' called looking at the "big picture". You will find that by researching MMT and the patients' involved, statistically they have a much higher success rate of being a productive member of society and recovering than those in AA/NA programs'.

Take Care.

Suboxone

Lawrenceburg, KY

#29 Oct 4, 2009
Apparently there is a suboxone clinic opening in Pikeville on Town Mtn Rd also. I've never taken illegal drugs in my life, nor have I ever abused prescription drugs so I only have what I see to base my opinions on. No doubt there are some people who become addicted to prescription pain killers unwittingly as one person said above, but for the recreational users, I just don't understand why someone would make that FIRST choice of doing that first drug with common knowledge of the consequences, and become a slave for life. It's beyond me. I was scared to death of the consequences and that's what kept me from doing what many people my age were doing all around me. I may sound like Mary Poppins on her best day and taunt me if you want, but why take the risk?
My message is don't do it the first time. You may not become addicted, but you don't know that beforehand. Why take the risk?
