Rick in Kansas wrote: <quoted text> Mark 12:41-44 He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. 43 Then he called his disciples and said to them,“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. 44 For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.” Luke 14:12-14 He said also to the one who had invited him,“When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” Luke 12:16-21 Then he told them a parable:“The land of a rich man produced abundantly. And he thought to himself,‘What should I do, for I have no place to store my crops?’ Then he said,‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul,‘Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.’ But God said to him,‘You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God.” ScRapture only has the force of gawd's law when it comes from the mouth (virtual mouth) of a right wing bigot and agrees with the most ugly aspects of the talibangelical project. Don't you know anything about the Bible?

But since we're cherry picking I would think you atheist liberals would be more concerned about Luke 12:8 - "I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God. And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven." Nice try though.

If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” Notice that last sentence there - "keep the commandments", yet you liberals are trying to drive God and christianity out of every facet of people's lives and here you are quoting the very religion you despise. Not socialism.

Who wrote: She placed the money there of her own free will, a socialist would have taken it from her. An answer which only serves to prove that you can't even fake having an understanding of the concept of socialism. True socialism existed long before Marx and Engels revisionism. From each according to their ability is one of the most basic tenets of communal socialism which has been around since the dawn of man. Who wrote: This is simply an act of kindness and has nothing to do with being a socialist. See what I mean? To each according to their need is the other tenet you are desperately trying to ignore. Who wrote: This is you cherry picking what Jesus said to his followers about beliving in God and has nothing to do with socialists spreading wealth around. Calling it cherry picking is a pathetic way to be dismissive. Socialism isn't about spreading the wealth around buttercup, it's about all of society acting cooperatively. Speaking of which, what did the Apostles do after the crucifixion? They became a socialist commune. Who wrote: But since we're cherry picking I would think you atheist liberals would be more concerned about Luke 12:8 - "I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. If you find the truth that Jesus practiced some very socialist principles to be blasphemous, that's your problem, not mine.

Whoa I thought this thread was about a possible cure for AIDS, and here I am reading about the Bible, Socialism, and Racism. Now I am just depressed that I share this country with such hatred and ignorance.
I hope there is more information on this supposed cure in the near future. Regardless of race, religion, or sexuality, this disease needs to be conquered. Once all the innocent babies born with this disease are cured, then you crazy rednecks, gangstas, queens, and Bible thumpers can hash it out the good ol' fashioned way.
I've got my money on the rednecks. Stereotypically, they are the most resourceful.

The main diseases are cancer, heart disease, obesity, alcohol and tobacco related illnesses. They are all to one extent or another exacerbated by behavioral choices. When do you start defaming the people with those maladies? What? You mean you have a sexual disorder of homophobia and you won't start defaming anyone else?

Not socialism. LOL. An stereotypical, American Christian is accusing me of cherry-picking? What about all those verses you people sneak over about clothes, beards, masturbation, and shellfish in order to bash people who are gay? Get the f*ck out of here with that sh*t, retard. The character of Jesus was a radical for his time, and he is pretty damn liberal for today. He was all about taking care of those who could not take care of themselves. The only time Jesus was ever shown acting violently was against people who dealt with dealing with currency. I don't agree with everything the guy said, but c'mon. I have waaaay more in common with this guy than you people. You would have to be insane to not recognize that Jesus was a man of the left.

If you want to help a perso, or a group of people, or a cause of some kind, that's totally up to you. If you want to do something like that, then great. If not, you are solely responsible. why should the government have the right to put a gun to your head, take your money, and pick & choose the charities to give your money to ?

You mean you have a sexual disorder of homophobia and you won't start defaming anyone else? CDC says that over 99% of HIV/AIDS comes from drug needles or risky sexual behavior. That makes it optional over 99%. Cancer caused by smokes, alcohol/drug abuse related, obesity are all optional too. Yes, we are all going to die from something, someday. But it is your responsibility to live your life as healthy and safely as you can. Ideally you live a full, rich life and keel over dead quickly. My beef is insurance companies and the Gov't cover healthcare costs associated with irresponsibility, at the expense of those living right. HIV/AIDS is an optional thing. Don't get it and don't expect society to feel sorry for you.
