It's difficult sometimes to determine what a man considers overweight. Ten pounds on an average height female can make a noticeable difference to someone who is very critical regarding weight issues.
Before meeting someone I realize is very weight-aware I try my best to determine what the person I'm meeting considers 'overweight.' To some, normal weight is medically considered 'underweight.' To others, usually men who are larger, a female whose weight is in the middle of normal weight charts, according to widely used BMI charts, is underweight.
If a man is unhappy unless his partner corresponds to his 'ideal' he should make certain she knows it before a relationship becomes meaningful to either. Expectations should always be clearly defined -- saves a lot of disappointment later.
