A Berbice Attorney-at-law famous for his tired against a female medical official is the latest offical to announce his exit from the Alliance for Change (AFC). Charrandas Persaud said he has decided to call it ‘a day’ after his efforts to take the party to the people were not recognized by the AFC leadership. This further adds to the long list of high profile exits the party has recently suffered. Three members from its New York/New Jersey recently defected to the PNC's A Partnership for National Unity(APNU).

Persaud, who is recognised as being one of the forerunners for the party in Berbice in explaining his decision said,“I felt the last straw was on September 21, 2013, when I made arrangements to host the weekly television broadcast, only to be told that a recorded programme was being sent from headquarters. Such behaviour is unsatisfactory. I wonder why they are taking me for granted?”.
‘I am simply leaving the AFC. I am not switching to another party. A decision in that regard will be made later. My issue is recognition . My efforts of bringing the AFC to the people are not recognised by the leadership. I am making a significant contribution to the AFC’, he stated.
