It is a good land mark to remember. But we need to start a fund raising drive to preserve it. Also help Guyana to have a top quality Hospital to serve its people and the region. Remember Home will Always be Home. Every where else you will be a foreigner.

Ok people.. I use to live in New Amsterdam.. Can I enlighten you on some of the dangers of that structure.. "anjily sahadeo" you were born there..ok fine.. I am happy for you.. but i don't think when you come back you would want to visit that place ..reason.. filty needles all over the place, the ceiling might come crashing on your head, stray dogs who reside in teh compound might bite you..and eeww. the place is scary..

If that structure remains then it would be a health hazard for the residents of New Amsterdam.. it would become a home for mendicants, stray animals, rats, garbage etc etc among other threats .. who knows else can happen inside the building..Yikes!! Thank gosh for thw New Hospital.. at least i know that the residents have a sense of comfort and safety now.. no wierd smells or nothing to bother about..

and New Amsterdam Public Hospital is a timber architectural masterpiece, which was design by world renowned architect Cesar Castellani in 1881...come on .. the building will rot and why waste money on repairing something that would not be used again..shouldn't those funds be directed into something useful.. like repairing schools etc etc..

Keeping the Old structire of the New Amsterdam Hospital is a waste of time..

The NA hospital would not be Feasible to repair i suggest that government tear down the structure and build new hospital and Diagnostic center, like Diamond Hostipal and Cottage Diagnostic center.

We have received from Cuba one hundred medical student have graduated to be doctors and more is coming, the government has give the doctors now we need Modern and state of the Art hospita.

Many of these hospitals are deteriorating because of the people who use these services are not using them properly. On the matter with the Old New Amsterdam, the minister of health said that a project had commenced
to upgrade the hospital an they are working on it.

I have read Mitta's comment carefully and I totally agree with her. I was there recently, and she is right and the structure needs to be upgraded, or demolished to build a new health facility. I was born there, no big deal. i will support a new health facility...for the benefit of the people, so let's put aside our stupid emotions and think with more clarity.
