US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton yesterday offered Independence Day greetings to the citizens of Guyana on behalf of President Barack Obama saying the administration looks forward to continued collaboration on the common challenges facing “our nations, our hemisphere and the world”.

In the brief message, Clinton noted that the US and Guyana are united by shared values and a common commitment to promote environmental sustainability that safeguards the health of their people and planet, economic development that spreads prosperity further and deeper, and democratic governance that respects human rights and the rule of law.“Our partnership is based on mutual appreciation and respect…” the Secretary of State said. She noted that on this country’s 44th Independence celebrations the United States wants to reaffirm its enduring friendship as well as to offer warm wishes for the year ahead.
