Dear Guyana President Jagdeo deserves a third term

Air cleared on President’s third term bid WHY is there so much of a racket surrounding President Bharrat Jagdeo’s possible bid for a third term of Office? The PPP/C’s General Secretary Donald Ramotar has cleared the air and said the President running for a third term is “utter rubbish”, so why then is there such ruckus in the public? President Bharrat Jagdeo after finishing his term in 2011 will be one of the longest serving Heads of State in Guyana’s history. Indeed, that is an accomplishment that should be celebrated. His contribution towards Guyana’s development will be recorded in the pages of history as one of excellence and distinction. But in any case, in terms of Mr. Jagdeo’s achievements perhaps, the President should run for a third term. After all, President Hugo Chavez is attempting to do a similar act in Venezuela. Trotman and his AFC are running scared should there be any bid by President Jagdeo for a third term. Clearly, if Mr. Jagdeo runs for a third term Trotman and the AFC will have severe difficulties to cope electorally. ALICIA MARTIN life is stranger than fiction. alicia martin just happens to be one of the most prolific nom de plumes in the PPP Civic phantom writers hall of shame. sometimes s/he gets two letters in the same daily. TWO. today s/he surfaces to remind us that Jagdeo is doing such a great job, we deserve him for another five years!!

I think you should get your information right. Jagdeo and his Party had structure and put term limits on Presidentry stating that an individual can only run for president twice. Jagdeo and his cabinet did a lot for this economy they have written off debts that this been upon Guyana for years. They have been improvements of roads, educational systems, public assistances and the rise of the economy trade market. Our economy has accomplished a lot over the years we should be proud of our judicial government.

the constitution states that no one person can be president for more than two terms, so the whole idea of a third term is moot.

But the PPP will have another go at it, that's for sure, because while you might here some people complaining about certain things, the majority of us are getting on with our lives.

I agree with Tekniq. PPP will have another try at it. PNC and other political parties haven’t give this nation any reason for them to be in power all they do is complain and grump. For the people that are unaware the constitution structured limits on Presidnetry around 2000 which stated one individual can run for president twice and must be Guyanese.
