We are so overwhelmed to see the problem with the cane cutters finally resolving. The cane cutters get paid by two option, cut and drop to be taken up by bell [loading machine]or cut and load on ponts which pays more.

Europe needs to follow America's lead and replace sugar with corn sweetner. There is absolutely no nutrition in sugar and sugar is a factor in several diseases including tooth decay, diabetes, and yeast infections.

Sugar is why Cuba stays in poverty. They don't raise a variety of crops and stick with the sugar money crop. That's like putting all eggs in one basket.
At least Guyana pays it's workers ten times more than Cuba does. Guyanese workers don't know how good they have it. All they want to do is complain.

cane cutters get paid by tonnage cut and loaded ray and the 'average' is about 3 tons day
going rate for private farmer is to pay 1200 and all the way to maybe 15 or 1700 per ton depending on how bad the field is [more grass etc more money]
at the estate a cane cutter will be paid 7 something per ton with the other say 600 going to taxes and INS et cetera
Guysuco gave them a 5.75% pay increase we think it was...they could've avoided the loss in price if they'd paid this from day one and kept the cutters working
but what can you expect when the head of the union sits in tha national cabinet and the inner cabal of the PPP
and we speak of brother komal chand

Tractors with special attachment to scoop and carry the Sugar cane to the punts will be now implemented in sugar estates across our country.
This new implementation will be a burden off the cane harvesters (pun not intended), the method of loading cane in the punt was done manually to further explain when a cane harvester cuts a significant amount of cane then he has to put that bundle of cane on his head and then walk to the punt in the near by canal and load it. With this new system productivity will increase and it will an ease to the cane harvesters since the tractors will do all the heavy lifting and loading of punts...

It will make work easier for the cane harvesters, and because the tractor will replace the job of loading the punts, productivity in the field can be increase…

The equipment is called a Bell, equipped with a three prong fingers that is capable to grab the cane from the ground and load into the punt.It can go through thick bramble and make the cane cutters work a lot easier and more production of work for the day.
