Where is the best place to buy a handgun: local shop, internet, retailer, pawn shop, gun show?

I am interested in purchasing my first handgun, but I am not sure where to start. I am interested in a G19. I would like to try before I buy if possible. The place where I am taking lesson does not have this firearm, and my instructor prefers revolvers...so I feel like I have limited information. Any suggestions?

What does a typical processing fee cost? Any other costs involved? Best place to get customized pricing?

When purchasing, do I need to provide anything other than a FOID card?

I appreciate that advice, but I already took lessons. Now, I am on to the purchasing phase. I'm not asking for any top secret information, just basic advice. Sorry to trouble anyone.

Try Guns America.

You'd have to have it shipped to your local gun store but there's a good selection.

Try http://www.gunbroker.com or http://www.gunsamerica.com or else gun shows or little gun shops have the lowest prices.

There is no best place to buy a gun from a store, unless you have a specific gun in mind. The sad truth is that these gun control advocates are actually wanting to control science. Pandora's box has already been opened. Chances are almost every household unknowingly has the materials in it to build any type gun. And if you do not believe me then go to your local fire department and theres a very good chance of finding a detailed plan for preventing an explosion from occuring in your home. An explosion in a cylinder with a projectile is a gun. The best place to buy a gun is an estate sale. You will be more likely to find a higher quality gun for a much lower price.
