What liberal think site did you get that one from ? Hopefully one day when you look in the mirror the idiot looking back will reach out and slap some sense into you. You are ignorant and stupid. Food for criminals.

Dear Holley Fire department. My name is Justice and I am 14 years old - wow I can't believe you giving us kids permission to hurt and injure animals. Bit confused. Bible teacher says: "Thou shalt not kill" doesn't say not kill animals. Is my Bible teacher a wuss? Also science teacher says all animals are sentient - meaning they conscious, feel pain, and lots of emotions like us - he says the latest science shows animals not objects but feeling beings. Also can I maim and injure cats and dogs? They are also animals. Also my uncle Ernie is mentally challenged - can't think or reason - so a bit like an animal. Can I injure him? It's a confusing world - I thought you guys at the Fire Dept looked after living beings but, hey, I'm just a kid, so what do I know. If you want to promote violence as a fun activity and set that example for us kids who am I to argue. Permitting kids to follow violent impulses is quite weird, I admit. But, hey, you're the adults so we have full trust in your judgement.
If you have the real translation of the 10 comandments it is "thou shall not murder".

Killing of animals for food and fur is as old as life itself.

The number one cause of injury in the home is slip and fall.

The elimination of bath tubs and steps would prevent many injuries.

Common sense would dictate the safe use of products and tools and not the elimination of the same to provide for better statistics.

Man, these posts are really bringing the "nuts" off the tree farm....

Just let them attempt to survive out in the wild with all thier "cute animal" friends for a few days.

Maybe if they beg enough, I might share some rabbit stew.....

you EVENT does not have the backing of THE UNITED SUPPORTERS OF FIREFIGHTERS!!-----

There is no need to kill animals in order to raise money for the Fire Department and the USFD will not help the Holly Ny Fire Department as long as this continues.
David Cook USFD President.

Money was raised for the Holley Fire Department through other fundraisers that does not harm animals or have anything to do with weapons: Over $3,700 raised was offered to the Holley fire department if they would cancel this event. They refused.
I believe that hunting and guns are to each his own. When it comes to the Fire Department, however, I hold certain standards and expectations. It doesn't seem appropriate to me for a Fire Department to promote the killing of animals or put guns in more peoples' hands, especially as a fundraiser in lieu of receiving thousands raised by other means.

Thank you,
Monica Terry
Secretary and VP --USFD

An independent Fire Department has the right to raise money as it sees fit as long as no laws are broken.

Monica Terry is trying to leverage an agenda that is out of the scope of a Fire departments duty of prevention and suppression.

Hey Qwest, Monica Terry has shot herself in the foot more than once with her comments.
First off: All her comments begin with "I", they are her opinions, and not the policy of USFD. Unfotunately, her opinions are based on emotions, not facts, but she has now made them USFD policy.

First quote ("$3,700.00 was offered to cancel this event") Anybody out there willing to prove this? Who has the money? Anyone seen a check? This is just a claim. Not substantiated. Fact or Fiction?

Second Quote ( "It doesn't seem appropriate to promote the killing of animals or put guns in more peoples hands, especially as a fundraiser") I wonder if Monica, or Qwest have ever attended a FD chicken barbeque fundraiser? Do they think these chickens "volunteered" to be raised in confinement, and slaughtered for thier eating enjoyment? Sorry Monica, animals had to be killed for that fundraiser too.(that is by the way, approved by the USFD) Also, how many Fire Dept sponsored "gun raffle" fundraisers are out there. No offense Monica, but this type of fundraiser is HUGE in the volunteer Fire Departments across the country. I must inform Monica, that the prizes in these raffles are GUNS !(another "approved fundraiser by the USFD) So, I quess the USFD does promote the killing of animals and putting guns in more peoples hands. If the USFD cannot assist the Holley FD, because of this, then they will have to cease funding a large portion of VFD's across America as well.

I would appreciate that the apology from the USFD to the Holley FD be in writing, and posted in the local paper as well.

I have taken the liberty of contacting the USFD with these concerns and have asked them to respond to me. I encourage everyone to contact them via the internet also. I have also asked for Ms. Terrys resignation until she and Mr. Cook can review these decisions without emotion.

The fact is, it is squirrel hunting season in NY. The squirrels are going to be harvested whether this fundraiser happens or not. This innovative FD has found a way to have this hunting season be lucrative, and raise needed funds to insure better protection for her citizens. They should not be crucified for it. The hunt is legal, as well as conservationally necessary. The gun raffle held later is also legal,(no assault rifles on the list of prizes) and approved by the USFD. I just don't understand the firestrom.

Go Holley FD!
God Bless America, and all her First Responders!

Ok. Lets ban squirrel hunting while we're banning certain styles of guns and magazines. Lets break the heritage of hunting so that our children do not learn life lessons and learn to survive and be self sufficient.
Btw, the squirrels, deer, turkeys, and whatever other game animals you can think of, if hunting is banned, will over populate and all compete for food sources. The result will be consumption and destruction of many of our food sources and cash crops. Ultimately, all those animals will starve and or succumb to disease. The final result is lower numbers of those animals if not extinction and fewer humans due to lack of botanical food sources.
But hey, we can feel politically correct!
