The tactic of letting guns walk, rather than interdicting them and arresting the buyers, led to controversy within the ATF. As the case continued, several members of Group VII, including John Dodson and Olindo Casa, became increasingly upset at the tactic of allowing guns to walk. Their standard Project Gunrunner training was to follow the straw purchasers to the hand-off to the cartel buyers, then arrest both parties and seize the guns. But according to Dodson, they watched guns being bought illegally and stashed on a daily basis, while their supervisors, including David Voth and Hope MacAllister, prevented the agents from intervening. However, other accounts of the operation insist that ATF agents were prevented from intervening not by ATF officials, but rather by federal prosecutors with the Attorney General's office.

So you are saying not only was he aware of it, George Bush was actually selling firearms to the Mexican drug lords during Operation Wide Receiver?

Is George Bush president? is this conversation about George Bush? Answer the question. Do you deny Fast and Furious? Are you implying The CURRENT president can not run his own agencies? Did he know and lie or didn't know what those under him were doing? Over and over he keeps claiming "I didn't know that" about every screw up by those he is suppose to be the "Man in charge of". That would mean he is incompetent at best.

Just minutes before Congress began preparing a contempt vote against Eric Holder, Obama raised the stakes in the long-running conflict over the botched ‘Fast and Furious’ gun-walking affair by claiming executive privilege to keep tens of thousands of e-mails secret.

You sell a weapon to a felon: that's a crime.
Doesn't matter if you know he is or isn't a felon.
Rather than background checks, mandatory sentences for anyone who sells weapons to persons who cannot pass a background check.
No worries, once I get 'em......I keep 'em. My guns are not for sale to anyone, saint or felon.

Mr. Obama claimed executive privilege for the first time of his presidency to block a House investigation into a botched federal gun-running sting called “Fast and Furious.”

Under Fast and Furious, some 2,000 weapons were allowed by the US to be “walked” by straw buyers into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. Whether the operation was the result of rogue ATF agents or approved by the executive branch. A separate inspector general investigation ordered by the president has yet to yield a summary of how the operation came to be approved and put into effect.

Holder had proferred Republicans a quid pro quo, reported Congressman Issa, the Oversight Committee chair: In exchange for ending the investigation, Holder would not release the documents, but would brief investigators on specific documents they were interested in. Opening Wednesday’s hearing, Mr. Issa said, “We need the Department of Justice to cooperate, but so far cooperation is not forthcoming,” he said.

The president has now inserted himself into an effort where the administration is trying to protect its political appointees, including Holder, while possibly covering up not just a matter of national and international concern, but a program that have involved US officials breaking the law.

Well gosh, according to the thread here, ATF was selling guns.

And Obama was in on it.

Now you are saying the ATF was watching gun gnutters selling their weapons without doing background checks and to straw buyers?

Was George Bush president during Operation Wide Receiver?

Is it true that he oversaw the gun walking operation on a daily basis?

That is what some say....

He certainly wasn't busy trying to keep the US from sending young men and women to die in Iraq looking for WMDs he knew didn't exist.

You know that George Bush has claimed executive privilege many times more than Obama?

You do understand the word "times"?

Guess how many presidents have claimed executive privilege since Eisenhower.

PS: Bush rejected a subpoena that would have required White House adviser Karl Rove to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee

CBS News has learned that two guns found in the area of a recent Mexican drug cartel shootout have been linked to Fast and Furious: One trafficked by a suspect in the case, and the other purchased by a federal agent. Yep.

Why do you keep trying to deflect? George Bush is not president and neither is George Washington. I responded to a post by you about Obama so let's talk Obama.
