Feb 7, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: WUTR

As we've reported to you, the New York Safe Act gives New York state the toughest gun laws in the nation, and it passed both legislative houses overwhelmingly.

Ex post facto law that criminalizes what was previously legal, and should be ruled unconstitutional when it gets to court. It was rushed through so fast that it actually prohibits NY police officers from possessing their issued ammunition clips, because it made no exceptions for law enforcement. Limiting clips to 7 rounds is absurd, because no major pistol manufacturer (Glock, Smith and Wesson, Sig Sauer, etc.) produces clips with less than 10 rounds for their most popular models, and will not do so now just because NY passed this stupid law.

Thousands of law abiding New Yorkers will now become "criminals" just because "Little Mario" wanted to be the first politician to take political advantage of the Newtown tragedy, while real criminals will just ignore this law, like they ignore the many other gun laws already on the books.

Cuomo is one of the most reprehensible politicians in recent memory, and that says a lot, given all of the losers currently holding office.

NYS isn't divided by gun regulations. A majority in NYS are in favor of more laws against gun violence. A majority of citizens are domestically in favor of new gun regulations. Fact

You're wrong, they just want the laws already on the books to be enforced. Writing news laws because of government failures isn't what anyone wants. When our criminal government (fast & furious, torture, secret kill lists ) writes laws, they are exempt right?
Fact, no one in the world with a brain trusts our government with their safety and liberty. Molan labe!

That majority of citizens you refer to are mostly ignorant of the facts regarding guns and the 2nd Amendment, and are instead reacting emotionally to recent tragedies. Nothing in the NY SAFE Act would have prevented what happened at Newtown. Magazine limitations sound good, but any proficient shooter can reload quickly enough that individual magazine capacity means little. The real problem is the lack of enforcement of existing gun laws. For example, NY City and NY State claimed for years that if you get caught with an illegal firearm, you'd go to jail for at least a year, and even longer if you commit another crime while possessing a firearm. However, despite the law, NY judges in most cases will not impose a jail sentence for simple possession of a weapon. Also, the Giffords shooting in Arizona, the Aurora theater shooting, the Virginia Tech shooting, and Newtown were all committed by mentally ill individuals. Disarming law abiding American citizens won't prevent that. In fact, homicides by gun have steadily declined in the U.S. for years, according to FBI statistics. This law is just politics by Cuomo et al., who is seeking the Presidency in 2016.

No, investigate the pharmaceutical industry pumping out dangerous psychosis inducing drugs. More government is nothing but welfare for failed academic disciplines too arrogant to admit they're wrong.

A Majority? When was the last time you took a poll of Upstate New Yorkers. This law only applies to upstate because there are already gun bans in the City and ALL of its boroughs. So how do you think this GUN BAN is going to change things, tell me how YOUR KING CUOMO is going to stop gun crimes by putting in a law that already exists in the City...TELL ME SMART F....

The pharmaceutical and widespread over medicating did not begin until healthcare became insurance centered...
While one needs to only look at the "Sackler brothers" who produced oxycotin "hillbilly heroin" big NewYork philanthropists and their connection to Rudy Guiliani our "drug czar" ....
then take a look at the business partners who created suboxone....and then you can show how these pharmaceuticals created a cottage industry of addiction..with the help of prominent politicians......which all stems from our insurance mandated health care system.....

Know what's funny about Metro NYC people? Too many of them have a short memory. They can't remember when Colin Ferguson walked onto a Long Island train full of unarmed commuters, killing six and injuring nineteen. What was the solution? let all the off duty commuting cops in street clothes ride free so this wouldn't happen again. See, the threat was reduced by letting trained law abiding citizens carry. Never mind they're off duty cops, just trained law abiding citizens. Gun safety and the use of deadly for NEEDS to be taught from an early age. Sure, there will always be psychopaths, but an armed sane trained populace is it's best checkmate.

PV, you know you can actually look this stuff up, right? It's called the world wide interweb. There's this site called Google. It's a funny name, but provides good information:

Yes, a majority. You realize upstate New York is part of New York, right? And there is no gun ban in NY, nor any of the boroughs.

you cannot carry a pistol in any of the 5 boroughs in NY no matter what your upstate permit states. That is a gun ban.

There absolutely is no "gun ban" of any kind in the city of New York or any of the five boroughs thereof.

Even better, why don't you prove him wrong, walk around Manhattan with a shotgun and have someone film it.
