What is going on with Kimber pistol sales? Local dealers wouldn't special order a Kimber pistol of any kind. They sell whatever Kimber sends them. More specifically, does anyone know what's taking them so long in getting the new KPD 40 S&W out for sale? It's been advertised for months and months but according to Kimber, they aren't shipping any yet. The latest answer I got from Kimber was, "We hope to start shipping some by the end of the year." What is the problem?

I just bought a new Kimber TLE II with Crimson Trace sights. This is the second Kimber I've bought in the past two years. The gun is outstanding. The magazine is not. I called Kimber and some repthere told me to mail the magazine to them and they'd "take a look at it." I said they should send me one, and a mailer and I'd send the other one back. No deal. I guess I sound like Cheap Charlie, but doesn't it seem that after spending $2500 bucks on their guns, they could spring for a magazine? I think the attitude is what got to me. Question is...am I the exception? If so, I'll just drop it.

I'm not going to attempt to speak for the company, but anyone who works in a manufacturing environment, knows the ins and outs of everything it takes to design manufacture, test and evaluate a product, prior to shipping it out.

I will think that likely they may have supply problems, considering everyone else's situation these days.

I spoke with a Kimber dealer about the delay on KPD, they said there is some machanical problem with the trigger linkage, they are fixing it.

I've had bad experiences with Kimber myself. I have read of many others who have also. Personally, I'd never buy another Kimber.

Kimber does not make anything that no one else does.

If they will not service the Firearm buying public , screw 'em .

That's the difference between marketing and manufacturing/engineering. In the case of my employer, the marketing dept sets their own product launch dates without consent from manufacturing/engineering. If marketing catches a glimpse of a workable prototype, they automatically assume that everything is ready for production.

I have an Ultra Tactical II, the most expensive handgun I have bought. After 200 rounds the guide rod flew out, Kimber sent me another one and this one flew out too. I took it back where I bought it and the Smithee( the smithee called Kimber) fixed it, a manufacturing flaw. Kimber did send the parts, but I was not pleased. I hear so much about the KPD but if there are design problems with the trigger I will not buy another KImber. Big name , bad guns.

I too saw the ads in various magazines and I fell in love with the overall design of the pistol. I contacted my dealer to find out what the deal was and he told me that according to his rep they are not going to manufacture the gun. I was skeptical and contacted Kimber the next day and the sales rep confirmed the worst, IT WILL NOT BE GOING INTO PRODUCTION.
