There's lies, damned lies and then there's statistics. The study is flawed from the word go. For example, 60% of the gun deaths are suicide and the study doesn't account for suicides by other means/methods. That means the total suicides by firearms are statistically inconsequential, leaving only 40% of firearm related deaths to be dealt with. After that, of those 40%(now the new 100%) how many of those deaths were from law-abiding gun owners using firearms in self-defense? How many of them were shootings by law enforcement in the performance of their duties? How many of them were accidental discharge? Were any of those data points weighted as were the weights prescribed to the restrictions on gun ownership?
There's so much more that's wrong, far too much to get in to in here.
By the way...
Patty is still no more than a useful idiot, as shown above.

540 gun related deaths in Chicago last year.
17 already this year.
Guns are illegal in Chicago and Illinois requires a F.O.I.D. to buy guns, ammo, even BB's.
Obviously, gun control doesn't work in Illinois.
Imagine how many THOUSANDS of gun related deaths there would be without their restrictive gun laws.

The problem with Chicago is they don't properly enforce the law. They need to do neighborhood sweeps, house-to-house searches and pat-downs of every person on the street ever day.

That's how NYC significantly cut their gun crimes.

Btw, Chicago ranks LOWER in gun-related homicides per capita than cities like Miami, New Orleans, Richmond, Kansas City, St Louis, etc.

Wrong. Women are twice as likely to die from a gun-related injury in a home with a gun.

Seems to work just fine in countries like England & Canada & Australia & Japan and many other civilized nations who have strict gun control laws, and yet have gun violence rates per capita of less than a third of that in the US.

Yes Dorothy, we have a gun problem.

They can come up with their own studies saying whatever they want, but reality says otherwise and so do statistics and cities like Chicago where they have some of the strictest gun laws and highest number of gun deaths.
Here's another study that says completely the opposite:
http://littlebytesnews.wordpress.com/2013/01/...
John Lott Jr. wrote a controversial book titled "More Guns, Less Crime" which liberals try to claim has been "debunked” by peer review studies, however….since its publication there have been 29 peer-reviewed national studies by criminologists and economists on the topic. Eighteen of those supported his conclusions, ten found that shall-issue laws had no effect on violent crime and only one claimed an increase; a temporary increase of one single type of crime. http://www.gunlies.com/gl/lott.htm
Related:
More stats and info on gun laws:
http://littlebytesnews.wordpress.com/2013/02/...
The FBI crime statistics prove otherwise. More guns = more gun violence per capita.

They did not include Illinois since they have the strictest gun laws, and their biggest city, Chicago is a killing field. It is also Obama's chosen home town. The shooters are also his chosen people.
Chicago has less gun homicides per capita (that means per person) than many other cities with lax gun control laws like Miami, Richmond, St Louis, Kansas City, Birmingham, etc.

That is exactly why President Obama wants stricter gun laws… so that there will be fewer deaths… but the right loves blood and death, even when it is the blood and death of 6 and 7 year olds.
These right-wing bastards disgust me.
But that would hurt gun sales and the gun industry. People will lose jobs. Corporations will make fewer profits. You are crazy and insensitive.

Therefore the hypothesis was not proven.
It is notable that in all but 1 mass murder was done in clearly posted gun free zones.
Marine Corp Pat, does your disgust extend to our Founding Fathers who wrote the Bill of Rights as rights that are natural rights?
Does "a well regulated militia" extend to thugs?

Illinois has one of the STRICTEST GUN LAWS in the nation but Chicago has the HIGHEST murder rate by guns in the nation.
This article posted is false.
No matter what laws are put on the books if you want to purchase anything and you have the dollars to do so you can get it.

Best way to take over a nation
Bankrupt it
Open up it's boarders
Disarm it's citizen so they can't defend them self.
Sound familiar

wake up people America is headed to a dictatorship with Shirah Law.

Strange all these shootings that sprung up during Obama's 4 years in office were committed by mentally unstable people.
STRANGE that the Mental Health Issue is NOT being discussed along with GANG violence. Just the disarming of ALL weapons from ALL US citizens EVEN HUNTING RIFLES.
Guns don't kill People do.
Address the mental health issue along with drug gang and leave the 2nd Amendment alone.

Read this chart for gun crime by state:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_ ...

Gun murders per 100,000:

Wyoming:.9
Vermont:.3
Arizona: 3.6
Alaska: 2.7

Illinois: 2.8
California: 3.4

As usual, it's the opposite. States with the most gun laws have the most gun murders

I'd choose to live in Miami, Richmond, or Birmingham, than Chicago. Chicago govt forces everyone to go unarmed. Stupid.

But the crime is less deadly without guns being readily available, which is the whole point.

We can't stop human nature to try to kill each other, but we CAN make it harder to do so.

Otherwise just give everyone their own personal nuke and be done with it.

Wrong.

The overwhelming majority of women hurt in their own homes are the victims of their live-in husband or boyfriend; NOT from an intruder.

Without a gun in the house the woman can easily defend herself with a good long kitchen knife. All she has to do is let him know that if he ever lays a finger on her she'll kill him in his sleep.
