The .223 Remington (5.56x45mm) is a cartridge that is ballistically in-between its predecessors, the .222 Remington, and the .222 Remington Magnum. The .222 Remington aka the Triple Deuce/Triple Two/Treble Two is a centerfire rifle cartridge introduced in 1950, and was the first commercial rimless .22 (5.56 mm) cartridge made in the United States. The .222 Remington was an entirely new design, not derived from any previously existing cartridge The .222 Remington was introduced in the Remington Arms Model 722 bolt action rifle, and was an instant success. Factory rifles often produce groups of one minute of arc (0.3 mrad) or less with no tuning. The accuracy and flat trajectory of the cartridge resulted in the adoption of the round for varmint and benchrest rifles When the US military was looking for a new smallbore rifle cartridge, Remington started with the .222 Remington, and stretched it to increase powder capacity by about 20% in 1958 to make the .222 Remington Magnum. The greater powder capacity put the velocities between the standard .222 Remington and the 22-250. The cartridge was not accepted by the military, but it was introduced commercially. In 1963, the 5.56 x 45 mm, also based on a stretched .222 Rem. case, was adopted along with the new M16 rifle. The 5.56 mm cartridge had a capacity only slightly less (5%) than the .222 Rem. Mag. The new 5.56x45mm cartridge was commercialized by Remington, the .223 Remington. Given the close performance to other cartridges and military acceptance, both the .222 Remington and the .222 Rem. Mag. faded quickly into obsolescence, being replaced by the .223 Remington.

Nope, not from a grade school child who believes when using school yard name calling really might make a difference.

How do you like being shown wrong on gun history>?

<quoted text>Not many, but the semi-automatic is what the "nuts" choose to use due to the simple fact they're easier to be had. With that said if these "nuts" could get their hands on "full-auto" they would most definitely choose those weapons.
"Nuts" Would that be a personal degrading remark? Or is that a professional evaluation term? You are a failure.

Hmm so far you are the failure. History is on my side. The .222 was first and it was a varmint round, the .223 is just an almost identical spinoff. Laying side by side you would have a hard time telling them apart. But by no means was it considered a good round for over 40lb animals. The .223 was a huge step down by the military from the .308 due to the fact the .308 killed better. NATO placed the pressure to scale DOWN rounds. FOOL.

Then recap who started and continues using childish attempted debatable responces and name calling. You.

You lose just as the conservatives are losing everyday under our great president. How's that for facts then?

The authorities knew this within hours of the shooting and yet here you are still perpetuating the lie in an effort to ban guns. Your true agenda has been revealed. Now go slither away and hope for another tragedy.

Nope, will keep thinking and reacting to those children and parents who only they know how it feels to have a gun nut destroy their world!

Parents buying caskets instead of Christmas presents!

I will not let those babies deaths go for naught, EVER!!!!

Let me ask you a couple of questions If you knew for sure reasonable gun control would save more children lives would you at that time change your attitude on gun control?

Now let me ask you another quetion, if those children were yours would you change your mind?

I have never recieved a yes or no answer, will you be the first?

Oh, and you are wrong on the weapon used, it was determined and still proved the weapon used to tear through those young childrem fregile bodies was a Bushmaster rifle. now I don't know if you intentionally lied or just uninformed and makes no difference to me due to the simple fact those babies are DEAD!

Also those parents are looking into empty children's rooms at night!

You are in a fit of hysteria. My ownership of an SKS has nothing to do with Sandy Hook and if a shooting happened at my child's school it would have nothing to do with that either.

That you don't see that reveals your problem in comprehending reality and I don't say that as some insult - just a fact.

Also, "assault weapons" are illegal in CT, a gun owner is legally responsible for securing their weapons, and it was illegal to bring guns on school property and to murder innocents.

Lots of laws were broken that day. One more thing, he had two pistols also, as did the Virginia Tech shooter one of them being a .22 caliber and he killed nearly twice as many people with just those pistols. At Columbine there were over 70 bombs (most defective) and the firearm of choice was a sawed off shotgun.

Why? Because when one of the shooters engaged the security guard that liars claim prevented no deaths his semi-automatic rifle jammed. During this shootout students hid better and some wounded were able to escape their vulnerable locations.

Non-thinking hysterical types will NEVER consider lives saved because they can't think past one level or in conceptual terms but since you can clearly see the dead that the leftist media shoves in your face, see the ones that were killed by pistols and shotguns, in gun-free zones, and all the time in the gun-controlled inner cities.

We have thousands of scum that come home from the military only to campaign to destroy our freedom. We have AK's and AR's because of the communist trash that is born and bred right here in America.
The Framers left us with a 2nd amendment so we can protect ourselves from Obama communists and Gifford navy traitors. Now you know why Loughner wanted to kill that political scum.
Full-auto or semi-auto are not the issue, gun bans are the issue.

All police are antigun. And all shooting rampages, especially school shootings are instigated by police to help justify gun bans.

The police are not going to stop antagonizing gun owners until the guns are banned.

Hide your kids, people.

Hmm. You did. Hmm you are a loser because you can't back your crap with facts. You think pulling heart strings makes you right. Your great leader is a joke and a failure. He has set the liberal party back 40 years. He couldn't even vote yes or no just present. His Obama care is really Hillary's that she couldn't get anyone to buy when her and Bill were in office. His gun control crap is Hillary and Bills too that was tried before and failed before. But you keep buying this crap because you (like him) are a loser that needs to be told what to do. Do the world a favor and find a bus.

Yes, you are right I'am in a "fit of hysteria", and you should have had those babies warm blood and parts of internal organs on your hands and cried when you washed them off!

I refuse to even read the rest of your post!

And now some gun nuts are saying Shady Hook School never happened, that is the most "devilish" action that can even be conspired!

If those dead bodies would have been close to you would you be so unfeeling?

Take one second and consider that, and give thougt to this: Do we try some avenue to keep this from happening again, or just throw our hands up and say oh well, its just 20 babies we can spare them for some to have a weapon designed by the military to kill as many as quick as possible?
