Mostly not. And coal plants are being replaced by natural gas plants.

Ame with electric cars. Coal makes the electricity and you use that electricity to drive around. Nothing is solved, it just makes people feel better knowing they're not using gasoline. And I'd bet that over 50% of those people haven't seen the inside of a bus in 20 years.
Well, not since school anyways ....

Again, why don't you come out of your cave and join the rest of us in the 21st century!! Throughout california and the south west, electric cars are charged with solar-panels while the cars are parked all day, enabling you to drive completely emissions free not to mention reducing your energy bills - ignorant dumbass!!

If you shut off FAUX news and cracked open a book or newspaper once in a while, you would know these things. The problem with you illiterate republicans is that you'd rather listen to your own drivel than actually debate or enlighten yourselves.

Please, blather on. At least you make me laugh.
Perfect example of Spocko's perception of you liberals.

It’s nice to see you finally come up with something at least resembling truth! Besides enlightened you can also call us progressive, free-thinking, liberal, open-minded and tolerant! How about you besides stupid, shallow, intolerant, ignorant and hostile?

Solar panels? Ha,ha,ha,ha. And what does it cost to drive a car in California? Oh, but that doesn't matter. As long as they are keeping the air clean. But wait! What about all those road taxes that were included in every gallon of gasoline? Now they don't get those taxes, do they?
I guess that's why they now want cars to be monitored by the state government. You know, a little chip in your vehicle that tells the government every mile you drive so they can send you a tax bill. How convenient. And you thought NSA was bad.
That California though, they are so full of good ideas. I guess that's why they are on the verge of an economic collapse and businesses are getting the hell out of there and moving to Texas.
Changing the subject is not going to mask you pathetic lack of knowledge and ignorance ...

90% of the electricity used in the US comes from coal, natural gas, and nuclear reactors. I can't find a source online that says oil is used to produce electricity.

Public utility companies do not use oil to generate electricity only private companies do especially for back-up power and redundancy!
