Live by the gun, die by the gun. Literally, every day, a gun owner shoots themselves, or their child gets the gun and shoots themselves. Every day. Not in any other country. Just ours.<quoted text>It depends on how it is worded. "as many as," _______ related" and "up to" are typical agenda driven phrases used to justify a cause. For example, "up to 400,000 people die per year from tobacco related heart disease" does not give an exact number and many things cause heart disease it becomes "tobacco related" because a person does or has smoked.. 10 people dying that year falls into being truthful in that statement.
When you take the 32,000 number subtract the suicides (Japan has a gun ban yet the a much higher suicide rate), thug on thug shootings (cleansing the gene pool), police action shootings, self defense shootings, etc. the number doesn't sound quite as devastating. If you use the numbers for the guns Feinstein & Co want to ban the number is even lower.
If you choose to play the "if it just saves one" card that goes both ways. If a person using a firearm saves just one life...
Notice how all these gunman always kill themselves or someone they love in addition to strangers? Just wait. It will happen more and more and more and by the time you come around to thinking about this topic intellectually instead of emotionally, it will be too late.
Good luck with that.
