I'm trying to blue the back part of my single-shot shotgun. The problem is it's turning the color to a blueish green instead of a dark gray like it should. It's been sanded down and cleaned with Hoppers copper solvent. I did the barrel the same way with no problem. I'm thinking its the metal but I have no idea why they use different materials? Any ideas would be great

Try getting a small piece of sheet aluminum and use your bluing solution on it.
If it comes out blueish green you will know.
If the manufacture is still in business an Email to the should solve the mystery.
