It's a case for fewer, not more, guns

There are 62 comments on the The Daily Journal story from Sep 3, 2012, titled It's a case for fewer, not more, guns. In it, The Daily Journal reports that:

That platform includes language stating that the GOP opposes legislation that would "restrict our Second Amendment rights by limiting the capacity of clips or magazines." The platform also calls more broadly for "the fundamental right to self-defense wherever a law-abiding citizen has a legal right to be." That line was an add-on to this one from ... (more)

Lady, you have missed the point.

It's the power, whether it is a gun or a knife or a club or an elected office that is used to wield it.

And it's the human holding it.

When we say you parrot the media, it is the media that only finds headlines when a gun is used.

How many headlines covered the guy that knifed 9 in China?

Howe many headlines with the guy in Norway that slaughtered so many with a gun?

Now, maybe you have some knowledge to back up your notion.

Please provide it.

Officer Anti Gun,

If the 2nd amendment doesn't prohibit the Govt from regulating the AK (and YOU from enforcing any law to regulate it) then the Govt and the police (and the Judges) are criminals.

\"Zigmunn Droid" & "Where Is My America": I will pray for the both of you. You both talk like two "Know It Alls", with such ignorance and disrespect, I can now tell that you're both 2 young adult males who have so much to learn about life. At least "Where Is My America" has a decent, respectful opinion; but you, "Zigmunn", just seeing your pic and the statement, "Vilence Solves Everything"??? Oh, my Dear Honey, I will pray extra hard for you. Peace.

"I will pray for the both of you."

You might first expend the effort on praying for yourself. Your posts are rather condescending and patronizing.

You give yourself the nickname, "Dr. Freud", and you call my posts to be condescending and patronizing? All because I used the phrase, "Sweetie, I'm old enough to be your mother...and that one day when you mature, you'll get my point". I apologize if I hurt some young egos, but the posts appeared to be coming from some young, macho tough guys, who feel power when they put others down. We all have our own opinions; and when we disagree, it should be done with respect, instead of sarcasm and name calling. An example is the post from "Louiston" in calling me an "old fool". I wonder if he/she has parents/grandparents and would mind if someone called them an "old fool". So much for "respecting your elders". The real Dr. Freud would be very disappointed. I do agree with "ZigmunnDroid" that the media (seems to) find only headlines when a gun is used. That was part of the point that I was trying to make; perhaps I didn't express it clearly enough. BTW: I'm not THAT old - I'm in my mid 50's. If some of you think that's "old", then my guess was correct about your approximate ages. Peace!

You were called an 'old fool' because you post like one. Not every old person is an 'old fool'.
Now do you get it?

Sorry mam, calling you ignorant was not disrespectful, we all are until we increase our knowledge.

so now let me say you are stupid.

I pointed out the error in your thinking, and you did not even try to dispute it.

SO did the other poster.

If you want to play with the big boys, you have to have some kind of knowledge.

Or at least be willing to try and get some.

Please go away and annoy some other folks.

And I was born when adelai stevenson ran for pres.

You?

If you didn't get a chance to read my post after the above one, I actually agreed with you on one of your posted opinions. I'm not "playing" anything, just posted my opinions. On this eve of the 11th remembrance of "911", peace to everyone.

What needs to be remembered on 9/11 are Government lies and cover up.

Don't forget, it was the U.S. Govt that instigated the 9/11/01 attack on the WTC.

Don't hold your breath in waiting for any cover up investigations to 911. Next year will be 50 years since the JFK Asassination; and it's still not solved.

Thanks for the You Tube link. I had a high school history teacher who had us do our own research on the JFK Assassination. Since then, I thought I had watched every news story and documentary, except for this one. Thanks again.

Two things for sure need to be remembered, one is the spares number of jets the US had on hand for NORAD to use in defending the country. I think it was 12 on the day that 9/11 occured, only 4 were available for the north east corridor and only two at time could be launched with two on standby at that time. And even then, the best they could do was try and shoot down an Air Canada flight that had neglected to check in with the next controller after a "hand off" from the previous one. Those jet fighters couldn't do s-it as it was...it probably saved the nation from a international incident that they couldn't have more than two in the air at a time.

The other is that we lacked secure and defensible airline cockpit doors, now pilots have a line of defense against multiple intruders seeking to gain access to the cockpit. Armed pilots is a plus, but if the pilots can keep control of their own aircraft long enough to defeat a cockpit attack, is the main thing that the new doors help provide.

Israeli security specialist had a good laugh at our "secure doors" and they were quite correct.

They work fine until the pilot goes to the bathroom.

I was on a flight only a few years ago when the door was open for almost the entire flight.
