Everything you mentioned are state and local laws. That's fine. The people have direct control over their state governments. If the people of a state don't object to what their state legislators do, it's on them. There is virtually no control over the federal government, yours or mine. They can pretty much do as they please.<quoted text>
A: No they can't, Gillard is finding that out here, she ousted a PM that rid us of Howard and then took his job and she will pay for that in the next election and that is where you do keep control of your government and then there are a small handful of jounalists brave enough to risk life and limb to keep the government honest and make them accountable....and there are the groups that band together to protest or force governments to increase invalid pensions and welfare payments, because without all those people, the government would have control, with it they don't....so we should support and encourage all those with the courage to bring us the truth regardless of how much it hurts us at great cost to themselves.
You mentioned best interests. Who determines what your best interests are? Is it really for your best interests? Isn't one capable of determining their own best interests?
A: in a democracy or republic or any free society it is those who scream the loudest, or have the courage to make a stand for a better society...
My state is the definition of a nanny state.:-)
New Jersey is third from the bottom of the least freest states. Unemployment is 9.6%. The freest state, least government, North Dakota, unemployment 3%.
A: It all boils down to what you are willing to compromise on, or give up, or introduce....is your state safer or more healthy or more financially independent than the other states, are they doing what you want them to do? If they aren't pick up that ball support those who will aid you to do that or just give in....and adapt...you have choices because you live in a free country and your governments can only do so much against your will....so how much will you take?:)
