Yes, but your country is blinded by the American dream and capitalism any effort by your government to thwart that by forcing banks to secure their risk is pooh parred by the people as an attack on your freedoms instead of seeing that it is necessary to have some sense of control over their ability to borrow and lend globally for which the citizen should be given a type of surety ....We in Australia temper the risk of loss of freedom with the reason behind the action....we understand that even freedom in not without it's pitfalls and that in order to protect the country and it's citizens finances we must ensure that lending institutions can back up any reasonable global risk with a fair portion of their own money. We still have a long way to go to bring private business under the same blanket of enforced scrutiny, but we are getting there....So it is simply a case of common sense.

The government Should take the blame because that's why we have a government. Their #1 main job is to protect it's people from exactly that. When some slick willy finds a way past a rule or a regulation or if it ends up doing more damage than good it's their responsibility to protect the people from it.
After all any rule or regulation or law the government has the final say, why shouldn't they be held accountable?
No government should be held fully accountable if they are making the decisions by themselves...they put up a bill and congress decides whether it passes or fails, congress is often working against the government and not in the best interest of anyone except the ones they receive their kickbacks from ie: the NRA...so where is the government responsible in that situation...or any when they try to implement change for safety or the better and are stopped by those who have their own greedy agenda...you should be looking closer at those you elect to represent you and your interests and not solely for the fact that they support guns.

I disagree because your thinking the "gun" is the cause of family & spousal deaths. That cause is from a social collapse and people unable to cope. Your thinking that if a gun wasn't there that would stop it from happening?
A: I made that very point, that it is more relevant to fix what is broken so then you wouldn't need guns....
My thinking is,,,that a insane mindset of your going to kill your spouse or other family members what you use to do it is irrelevant.
A: Agreed, but the fact that in America most homes have guns easily available this makes it the easiest weapon to use.
A baseball bat or a hammer can be just as effective. There is no advantage "because he didn't have a gun" although there would be if You had one.
A: Again agreed a baseball bat or hammer could easily do the job..but it is the convenience of a gun and the weapon of choice by most who commit familycide.
Another problem area is suicide for whatever reasons, well i guess if you want to kill yourself!?!
A: Our suicides are higher where guns are present, as a good deal of these are out countries youth who tend to have guns on their properties, and although others try to commit suicide with other means a lot of them are saved on the first attempt because they either don't do it right or don't take the right dosage....some then never try it again or get it right the second time...this is never the case with a gun.
And the problem that will most likely affect most of us, criminals.
A: it is more likely you will be raped robbed or bashed by a family member, friend or acquaintance than a criminal....
Them on the sub-human civilized level, where the problem is the worst.
The whole idea is wrong taking something away from 1000 people because of what 1 person does wrong with it and thinking your better off because of it.
A: I disagree, as it is not necessary for the many to have weapons where there more suited to a war zone than suburbia....it seems you think bigger will do the job better that is never the case in a home invasion, an assault weapon is overkill.
That logic is like saying if you put innocent people in jail they will be safer from those who are not.
A: No, not at all, your first paragraph states that society needs to get people to solve the social problems that should not mean to constantly up the arsenal, that only a war torn country would be proud of....

Thank you Teaman, as always a wealth of information....
The problem remains it is not the governments fault if they institute a law or action that greedy people can abuse for gain( as crooks will always find an excuse or a way to abuse the system for their own ends) and in this case the banks and lenders and companies used unethical practices to scam the public into buying what they couldn't afford....so I don't see where the government should have to take the blame for that....although in saying that we do have a different system here that helps protect the banks from their own greed...they must have a reserve of security funds in case of such a risk of this type of thing happening...so if bitten most of the loss can be absorbed....Your government as most don't have such safeguards in place and therefore any loss is greatly felt by the consumers, which then affects the country as a whole as it would here if our government hadn't implemented such a demand on our financial lending institutions.:(
The US also had safe banking practices. That is the point. It was the government that [forced] banks to abandon them under the Communities Reinvestment Act in order to enable low income people to own homes. There were groups like ACORN that were demonstrating in front of banks accusing them of being racist. Incidents like that caused the Communities Reinvestment Act to be passed by congress.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are two mortgage companies that were created by the government and are still government sponsored. They bought these toxic mortgages and passed them onto Wall St. It was people in congress that prevented the regulation of these two companies. These same people were receiving good deals from predatory lenders. Liars like Barney Frank were reassuring the public the two government mortgage companies were sound.

Yea, I blame government, both parties. They went well beyond regulation, or lack thereof, and took part in manipulating the market.

Wal-Mart has become the largest seller of guns and ammunition in the United States.

Just a few years ago, it was hard to find guns in Wal-Mart outside of rural hunting areas. But in 2011, in an attempt to revive flagging sales, the behemoth retailer decided to expand gun sales to half of its 3,982 stores nationwide — including in some urban areas like Albuquerque.
The company now sells 400 guns in its stores. Sales have been brisk. The FBI received nearly 16.8 million background check requests this year. Wal-Mart is now the biggest seller of firearms and ammunition in America.
For some companies, Wal-Mart is utterly crucial. Financial disclosure forms for Freedom Group Inc., the largest gun maker in America, reveal that 25 percent of its sales came from Wal-Mart alone last year.
Soon Wal-Mart will sell Chinese made guns to their own specs ...

“To take from the people the right of bearing arms, and put their weapons of defence in the hands of a standing army, would be scarcely more dangerous to their liberties, than to permit the Government to accumulate immense amounts of treasure beyond the supplies necessary to its legitimate wants. Such a treasure would doubtless be employed at some time, as it has been in other countries, when opportunity tempted ambition.”--President Andrew Jackson, Message to U.S. House and Senate of Dec. 5, 1836.[Journal of the Senate of the United States of America, 1789-1873. TUESDAY, December 6, 1836.]
Well I could clearly state there that the amount of yearly gun deaths would be daunting for any society....needless to say no one is removing your right to bear arms...we have established that, that particular furfy is propaganda based on fear.....it is the type of useless weapons that are or were the target....ie assault weapons....military style weapons....so your rights are not, I repeat, not being infringed upon...so why don't you people accept that fact and start to think of reasonable ways of going about ridding the country of the guns you don't need for self defense or for killing your own meat....it is beyond reason why anyone would need such a weapon in the first place....

There is no 'shortage' of 'Bitches' in the human breed, and in fact, they seemingly multiply faster than rabbits, willing to subvert, and otherwise pervert the truth in the name of their own ends, all of which are vain.

In history, they are legion, bringing down the greatest of the great, and the least of the least.

Even in the end, when they discover their own foibles, they revel in those, with a profane celebration of the obscene.

How does that solve the problem Americans have with an over use of guns that are not necessary where is the logic? It shows how clearly it is imbedded in your pshyche to continue to believe you are being put upon even by a simple and reasonable aim for reducing assault weapons to limit the deaths incurred by them....you are no hoppers and clearly want to live in a country dominated by the gun and not common sense....else these weapons would be dumped in a crushing machine by any lengths of the imagination of saner countries....Those who live by the sword die by the sword and it couldn't happen to a better country. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. And though for a while, those, who have the sword in their power, abstain from doing him injury, yet by degrees he will be awed."--James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, 1775.
"The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside...horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them."--Thomas Paine, Thoughts On Defensive War, 1775.
You are deluded if you think your arms can protect you from tyranny. The nature of weapons that would be used against you for suppression, would make your guns look like plastic toys.
However, enjoy your false sense of security. I think that's why the"they" let you keep them..plus you keep supporting & voting for those who would ultimately enslave you. Fortunately the recent majority are smarter than you.
