The Second Amendment was written in the 1700s for colonists to protect themselves against the British, Indians and to form a militia in case the British invaded their land or property.
This is what the NRA and gun owners use today as proof of their right to bear arms.
It is silly when you think about it.
The Second Amendment has nothing to do with today's America.
It is time to amend the Second Amendment.
It is also time to ban guns that are used to kill people.
Our right to be free from gun violence far outweighs any right to bear arms.

All our other protected rights spelled out was written then too. Here you are using one. Is it outdated? History shows violence was prevalent long before guns. Guns don't cause violence, they are our only defense from it. I did not realize human rights had an expiration date, and by the way the right to bear or other rights are not granted by that piece of paper they are simply acknowledged by it. The right to bear arms was not to protect from the British but to use to protect against control freaks like you. Rights are never weighed against the public welfare, if they were blacks would still be slaves (the majority benefiting from the removal of rights from a minority).

You should try to add your so-called right to be free from gun violence into the Bill of Rights. See how far that goes.

2nd amendment had nothing to do with the British Govt. It was included into the Bill of Rights to prohibit OUR Govt from regulating our weapons.

Really? Where is this "free from gun violence" enumerated?
Does it trump "free from criminals preying on us"?

I guess sarcasm doesn't come through so well. I figured that anyone reading my post would know that no sane individual could really believe that way.
