Ok - this is how it works:

You can not go one on one with artillery and tanks, but you wouldn't need to. You fight a 'hit and run' action, similar to what we did against the British (who had artillery by the way), and the Vietnamese against us in Vietnam.

You really think Vietnamese could keep us fighting for years, and Americans couldn't do as well? True the American soldier in Vietnam was often demoralized, but you think he wouldn't be demoralized fighting other Americans?

And don't forget who comprises the American military - us! They are some of the most patriotic, fine Americans there are. You don't think there would be dissension in the ranks (including and especially the officer corp) at perpetuating a tyranny and fighting Americans? of course there would.

We don't need to defeat the military. We need to be able to maintain our independence from a tyrannical government long enough for it to collapse on its own.

Note how in Afghanistan a bunch of tribesman are keeping us VERY busy, note how in Syria jeans wearing civilians are doing battle against their government.

Are we to this point yet? No. Could it get worse?...I hope not.

Wouldn't work for terrorists. You need a significant portion of the country doing this. That's why those Branch Dividian kooks never had a chance, or why terrorists in America always (eventually) get taken out.

How do you think we beat the British? Eventually large groups of people come together in uncontrolled areas - for example large portions of 'Redoubt' states would be left to their own devices - and form irregular groups, then organized groups, and finally their own 'official' groups.

This is not exactly secret information, nor military rocket science even if it seems so to you. What little bit you've seen me write is nothing, but those who will provide knowledge are the thousands of ex-military that are now civilians.

Our country is still the best place in the world - America truly is exceptional. And our president, while definitely leaning far to the left, has done nothing worthy of an uprising. He's basically a good man-husband-father who has been deluded by a lifetime of Progressivism and political correctness.

The thing is, what seems far left now, can become the norm if it sticks around long enough. Who knows what extremes the future may hold for this great country.

Oh, and that was the reason - stopping our own government should it get tyrannical - given by the Founding Fathers for the right of Americans to keep and bear arms.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
John Adams had plenty to say, as well as Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, George Washington, etc.
And, while not a Founding Father...Abraham Lincoln: America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

The original right wing extremists:

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, etc.

Come on New Mexico, at least add something to the forum; give us some in depth thought, or show some debate skills, or an interesting link, or a study you read, or abit of history.

Something, or your name should be "Less", not "More".

Contribute, don't just be an entitlement taker.

Comments from Bill Maher that the original 2nd Amendement purpose of defending against tyranny was 'nonsensical'.

I've got to thank Bill, I've never bothered to contemplate the issue before.

Check it out, and come to your own conclusions.

Yes LBer is correct. And the police are much slower to do ther performance duties in U.S. do to caution they must perform. Armed America will also slow spread of socialism.

Not bad here, but we are a very homogeneous group.

New Mexico is very uneducated part of U.S.?

And we know that socialism isn't just a catch-all word for anything you disagree with. And we know that anyone talking about taking up armed insurgency in the US is a potential threat and that these faux patriots are generally a little nuts.

Note yet again New Mexico adds absolutely nothing to the discussion.

This puts into doubt the sincerity of anything he posts anywhere else on Topix...which makes him a Topix Troll.

So note anything from "Santa Fe, New Mexico", regardless of the name he/she uses, is probably from this troll, and ignore accordingly.

Differing views are welcome on Topix, and indeed are it's purpose. So please be ready to add an opinion beyond a one liner, offer an indepth analysis, or atleast a view from a new angle, or atleast offered in a new way. Info, links, and historical points are also a nice touch.

As socialism is the 'cause de regeuer' of the media in America, Clarence Thomas seems to be suggesting that Obama - in an oblique way - that Obama is a socialist. The precepts of communism and socialism (communism light) sound great, but history has shown they do not work. You can not take from those who earn, and give to those who don't, on a general and national scale, and expect it to work.

Obama is not a bad guy, and he means well, he just will not take a lesson from history.:

"Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas suggested at a forum last month that President Obama was helped in his historic 2008 bid by getting the approval of the "elites and the media" for saying "the prescribed things."

Thomas made the comments during a CSPAN interview a month ago.

Asked if he thought he'd see a black president in his lifetime, Thomas -- who is black, and a conservative -- said he did.

But he said the first black president would have to meet certain tests.

"The thing that I always knew is that it would have to be a black president who was approved by the elites and the media because anybody they didn't agree with, they would take apart," he said. "And that will happen with virtually -- you pick your person, any black person who says something that is not the prescribed things that they expect from a black person will be picked apart.... So, I always assumed it would be somebody the media had to agree with."

Thomas also revealed that he's never had an in-depth conversation with Obama, and has only interacted with him "in passing."

Huh. Checked it out - is true as one of the lesser American states. All states seem to have or want to have something to be glad about.
High illiteracy and high crime. Some groups say gibe it back to Mexico.

Many poor Native Americans abused by federal government live there.

No European should move there. The dry air is good for the lungs one good thing.
