When common weapons are restricted to law abiding citizens, and little is done to stop criminals or the insane from preying on society, the approach lacks common sense. A good friend of mine had a child killed in a car accident, shall we ban automobiles?
Nobody wants maniacs to have any sort of weapon, but maybe if a person is that dangerous, should they be living in a residence next to you or I?
Also regarding your question regarding socialism, if you are a student of history, you will remember socialist liberal beliefs are normally associated with gun bans for the citizenry.

This crusade these parents have embarked on may be the one thing that has kept them sane and not given in to the overwhelming grief and horror brought about by the death of their child.
I hope their efforts reach fruition helping to prevent any future Sandy Hook tragedies.
propose to me ANY legislature that will stop another massacre from happening just the same, and then MAYBE i might be inclined to believe you.because anything that has been proposed so far, does nothing but punish the law abiding!

.

They sure are. Are you listening to Sweinstein, see wants to ban common semi auto rifles such as the AR 15, and it just happened in Connecticut this week. The magazine bans are also de facto gun bans, it happened in New York already. NY passed a no more than seven cartridge mag ban...no gun maker makes them, uh so that is a gun ban because the firearm, in a legal sense, is useless. The list of gun owner harassment continues, like a 50% ammo tax and so on. Make no mistake about it these people that are saying that "we support the 2A, but we just want common sense gun control" are lying. They want a total emasculation of the 2A. Even Sweinstein admitted at one time she would ban all guns if she could.

People like you have drunk the socialist liberal Kool Aid.

Exactly!! Actually, I have been doing some research, and about two thirds of the states are trying to pass common sense gun controls. These states, such as Kansas, are loosening severe restrictions for concealed carry so people can protect themselves. The only way to stop another Sandy Hook, VT, or Colombine is to allow law abiding citizens to protect themselves. It is only in the socialist liberal strong holds that these freaks are looking to ban guns and the right of one's self protection. This is why this BS will not pass on a National level, and the states that passed Un-Constitutional restrictions will be overturned under Supreme Court recent rulings.

Guns will cause the fewest deaths. School shootings are rare. They're caused by YOUR gun bans at schools. On average, about 26 children die every day from sickness and disease, and then from accidents (most from car crashes, not guns), and then homicides, and many of those not by gun.

"America has the most guns and the most freedom." Only fools and communists would listen to you about gun control.

The 2nd amendment allows us to kill cops and soldiers if or when the govt goes rogue. Your pacifist crap is deadly and selfish. If anyone thinks it violent now with guns, consider what it will be like when only the Govt has them.

Communists like you are always comparing America to other craphole countries - that in itself tells us your're a pos. Your messiah Obama is so assbackwards he failed to end war, sends billions of taxdollars to countries most of us never heard of and their people actually hate us, WHILE he furloughs thousands of govt employees.

As for the rest of your partisan diatribe, human emotion is all that keeps us from being tree stumps, and is often a valuable aid in making decisions. Regarding your precious second amendment rights, background checks and other common sense parameters do nothing to abrogate those rights.
What keeping guns out of the hands of maniacs has to do with socialism, I've yet to figure out.
......The reason we haven't heard from the Dad that is happy with the current laws that should be enforced more, is that his view does not align with the politicians running their anti-gun platform. There does seem to be something very wrong with you. Don't want to be to judgemental, but it is not emotion but intellect that separates us from the tree stumps and animals. We lose our intellect when we get emotional and these crooked politicians are playing the victims families like a violin with that card. If you knew the deeds and actions of the politicians behind this you would be even more outraged at what they really are than even at the injustice of this shooting. This "common sense" lie that they use to put a nice face on the theft of our rights is a good example of how they operate. These politicians have been lying for years and have the media to help them spread their brand of crap. I'm still waiting to hear tougher laws regarding the criminal use of firearms.

Do you really think that Lanza would have loaded only 10 rounds in his magazine? Or do you think that he would have turned in his magazines or semi-auto firearms? Lanza broke about 10 state and federal statutes before any of the school murders. Laws are meaningless words to criminals or the insane.
Please don't tell me if the items are banned they won't be available. How is that working for illegal drugs?
These grief-stricken individuals are being used by liberals to restrict firearms ownership for the law abiding citizens. Like I said in in previous post the socialist liberal democrats released dangerous criminals, opened our borders for criminal illegal aliens to freely come into our country, and deinstitutionalized the violently insane, and then blame guns, law abiding citizens, and the NRA for these mass murder tragedies.
The dysfunctional mental health and criminal justice systems need to be fixed for this violence to stop.
How about using the pro-choice approach to gun control. Don't tell me how to protect myself or my family, and leave that choice to me.
Who are these socialist liberal democrats who opened the borders for criminal illegal aliens?? A cabal whose sole purpose is to do what? Destabilize the country, invite anarchy, hand the country over to Kim Jung un???

You know, I donít mind debating a point, but when the talking points veer off into the realm of the absurd or an old X File episode, I got nothing.

Donít worry, no one will take your firearms or add on any new restrictions. This is another exercise in futility, Congress will do nothing and shooting deaths will continue.

That is the crux of the matter. The legislation that has been enacted doesnít adequately address firearm safety, purchasing and closing loopholes in the laws. The system needs to be overhauled, reexamined, and implemented across all 50 states. What should be done is a joint venture between gun aficionados (not the crazies), law enforcement (federal, state, local), parents, gun control advocates and government; a representation of a broad spectrum of the population. Knowing, of course, that compromises have to be made for there to be a fair but meaningful outcome.

Do I have the answers, any answers to this deadly problem, allowing for a balance between the rights of gun owners and those who would like to see workable restrictions on firearm sales--- no I do not. I just see this from my point of view. It is only through a constructive dialogue that some semblance of a consensus can be reached.

Just like you feel safe owning guns, I and other like-minded individuals also deserve to feel secure knowing that there isnít a person(s) out there with a gun ready to gun us down in our place of work, worship, recreation, or simply walking down the street.

Yeah. The body count at VA Tech, Sandy Hook, etc. could have been MUCH less.
Marichu wrote:

The same claims have been made since the '90's when concealed carry licenses were first being issued in Florida. And now almost 20 years later, with 49 states having CCP's and the 50th (Illinois) having to enact it soon, the "wild west" and "blood running in the streets" scenarios have yet to materialize, dispite gun ownership increasing by roughly 40% in just the last ten years.

Try again.
