Does anyone know where they came up with the 40% figure for guns sold without a background check? Seems pretty high so I expect some political agenda creative math.

That is what the gangbanger survey they sent out came back with. You know the gangbangers always tell the truth and will obey all gun laws.

The plan was to put on the Feinstein dog & pony show, knowing it wouldn't pass. Registration has always been the goal. Private sales or trades can't be tracked, the "expanded background check" will close that so called loophole. If you buy a deer rifle from your hunting buddy, ATF will need to be notified and the rifle registered. If your Grandfather gives you his favorite shotgun, ATF will need to be notified and the shotgun registered. Registration has always been the goal.

The question is "without registration" how will they know whether the firearm changed hands before or after the new & improved way to not solve any problems, unless it is a new purchase. They either haven't thought it out or know it won't help (yet again) and just want yet another warm and fuzzy feeling law.

We need serious legislation passed, but with a temporizing Obama, a weak Dem party not fully behind gun reform, and a wacked-out GOPee, it's not going to happen.

More will have to die - and they will, sadly.

This is America in decline, folks. Living the cowboy life while innocent men, women, & children die.

Will be interesting how Colorado will approach that problem. Haven't read anywhere that mandatory registration be done before the law takes effect July 1. Without a complete inventory of ALL firearms in private hands before the law kicks in renders it moot for millions of guns and out of state purchases by CO. residents.

So purfessor, tell us exactly what you consider 'serious legislation'. What law would you put in place that will prevent more people having to die?

I wonder if his 'crackdown' will start with Eric Holder and the DOJ for trafficking weapons into Mexico.

I really thought, with Obama given every thing else he wanted, the Congress would give him gun control. I am surprised. He must be losing control of the Senate, and House which means they really will honor the people's choice if you take the time to call them, or write them with your opinion.
