Two million gun sales have been blocked by existing background checks- people who were unaware they could not buy guns.

People who know they cannot legally buy guns swarm to people like you who don't care who they sell firearms to.

The universal background check will close this loophole, and, importantly, put people in jail for selling firearms to people who cannot legally buy them.

I say: attach a one year sentence to any gun found in possession of someone who should not own it. Allow him to split the sentence: he IDs the seller, you each get six months.

And no more firearms for you.

That makes some sense "barefoot2626", and I doubt it would take two thousand pages to write that legislation. Every congressman and senator would be able to read the bill before they voted on it. Thats why it will never happen.

Obviously not.
Police confiscate tens of thousands of firearms from people who should not have those guns and they do not need to check to see if they are registered, only that they are being used illegally.
I understand: you want to protect the rights of those using guns illegally.

Umm... do stop ranting, PS: I think there should be a background check on ALL private sales, I am not sure how you can pretend that that would protect outlaws since it would keep them from getting guns... at least make it harder...

One of the other reasons I like the idea of Florida is because they're making welfare gloms do drug testing now and they're headed this way till they drain the resources of the poor saps that stay and work here.
The Northeast will be one giant slum soon enough, too bad.

So when the guy that commits a breaking and entering has a few stolen guns he wants to sell to the gang member running in the south side of town, for money and some drugs, he is going to conduct a background check on that hoodlum and then deny him the weapons? Please tell me that your not that stupid "barefoot526". You must have a sign in your front yard that proudly states, "This Is A Gun Free Zone!"

If you know Hellers, than you should know this:
"Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited. It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment or state analogues. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of arms.[United States v.] Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons."

Nobody is saying that dangerous criminals and the insane should have firearms. There are background checks already. Now go wipe your chin off, Monica.

Very original princess Monica, the Kleenex is in the bathroom. The issue is what is a criminal and what is considered mental illness. We both know the social libs, like yourself, want to ban all guns from civilian ownership, and they will use and means possible. Surely, they will eventually equate traffic tickets to being a criminal. Perhaps a legal pain medicine prescribed after dental surgery will put one on the permanently banned list. It is not about true criminals and insane, it is about mistrusting you social libs and the fine print in these proposals.

GUN CONTROL, SUPPORTED BY CRIMINALS AND DICTATORS WORLDWIDE

by Steven Neill

NewsWithViews.com

“Can we all get along?”

The recent Sandy Hook and Jovan Belcher/Kasandra Perkins[13] tragedies have created a rallying point for those bent on limiting the U.S. citizen’s right to possess certain types of firearms. This is nothing new as each time a calamity like this happens, the same people rise up to blame the firearm’s for the event instead of the person wielding it. There is certain logic to their arguments, as the Founding Fathers never imagined a rifle capable of shooting a hundred rounds in a matter of minutes, nor did they conceive of bullet proof armor and the easily replaced clips turning mere mortals into killing machines. The Founders did, however, know all too well of the dangers of mob violence and the need to defend oneself.

On April 29th, 1992, America was waiting for the results of the trial of LA Police Officers accused of beating African-American Rodney King. The mostly white jury released its verdict of “not guilty” for the white officers at 3:15 pm, and within 30 minutes crowds of several hundred protestors were milling around the LA County Courthouse. Fifty police officers were dispatched to keep the crowd under control but retreated as the crowds started turning aggressive. Soon, the protests became a violent free-for-all as wide spread looting, torching buildings and brutality towards mostly white people turned South-Central LA into a war zone.[1]
