Its a fair enough question.
Politicians, entertainers and athletes are important enough to be guarded with weapons, why not our children?

Don't be shy now, why not just arm the children?! Not only have the NRA's tactics cowed politicians and beaten back substantive national gun-control efforts, they've actually support moves to make guns easier to get. Shameless GOPers in Washington have signed on to Kentucky’s egomaniacal Rand Paul's call to filibuster any gun-control measure. Even though more than 3,000 Americans have died by gun violence since the 20 children murdered at Sandy Hook, the NRA has somehow managed to turn it into a mockery – the victims' families and gun-control advocates have lost. Forget any assault weapons ban — or any other serious gun regulation for that matter!

The proposed legislation has made a mockery of itself because it address' none of the issues that might minimize the problem.
We managed to ignore and not enforce thousands of gun laws on the books before Sandy Hook, why would these be any different?
Might as well ban gun shaped wads of bubble gum for all the good these new laws will do.
Liberals still don't see the problem, how can they offer any solutions?

The problem is in too much violence revolving around too many guns in private hands. What are YOU doing about that, Brad?

For something to be "ironic" it should first actually be TRUE, dolt. Progressives do not in any way want to "take civil rights away from black" Americans. That's a LIE. Sorry.
So blacks will not have to obey any new gun restrictions/bans passed by the Progressives? I don't think they will get an exception.

Was there not a struggle to allow blacks the civil right to have guns (the NRA was a response to the KKK, btw)? Yes, Southern Democrats passed numerous "Black Laws" forbidding gun ownership/possession by blacks.

Progressives want to enact gun bans and restrictions that would result in effectively bringing back the infamous "Black Laws", only this time, they want to include the other races as well. How "Progressive" of them.

Ergo, Progressives want to effectively bring back the "Black Laws" QED.

So, when are Progressives going to stop hiding and bring out the white KKK hoods and robes again like the ones they wore in the early 20th century when they were...just like now...attempting to disarm the people they hate?

>>Not what you said, liar. You said liberals "wanted to take civil rights away" from black Americans. Since they're not being singled out or having civil rights removed, you're making a false statement. And why would a Rightie want an "exception" for black people? You won't give them an exception anywhere else, will you? Don't you in fact constantly whine about them allegedly GETTING "exceptions?"

Was there not a struggle to allow blacks the civil right to have guns (the NRA was a response to the KKK, btw)? Yes, Southern Democrats passed numerous "Black Laws" forbidding gun ownership/possession by blacks.

>>Many discriminatory laws were passed in the South. None of this has any relevancy to the gun argument, since black Americans would not be singled out by any gun regulations in the present.

Progressives want to enact gun bans and restrictions that would result in effectively bringing back the infamous "Black Laws", only this time, they want to include the other races as well. How "Progressive" of them.
Ergo, Progressives want to effectively bring back the "Black Laws" QED.

>>False, as I've already told you. No one wants any discriminatory "black laws" coming back, and no one is applying any special gun regulations only to black Americans. Please stop pretending this is true.

So, when are Progressives going to stop hiding and bring out the white KKK hoods and robes again like the ones they wore in the early 20th century when they were...just like now...attempting to disarm the people they hate?

Incidentally, who invented the idea that "the NRA was formed in response to the KKK?" This appears to be another self-serving lie by gun nuts:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Rifle_...

"The National Rifle Association was first chartered in the state of New York on November 17, 1871[11] by Army and Navy Journal editor William Conant Church and General George Wood Wingate. Its first president was Civil War General Ambrose Burnside, who had worked as a Rhode Island gunsmith, and Wingate was the original secretary of the organization. Church succeeded Burnside as president in the following year.

Union Army records for the Civil War indicate that its troops fired about 1,000 rifle shots for each Confederate soldier hit, causing General Burnside to lament his recruits: "Out of ten soldiers who are perfect in drill and the manual of arms, only one knows the purpose of the sights on his gun or can hit the broad side of a barn."[12] The generals attributed this to the use of volley tactics, devised for earlier, less accurate smoothbore muskets."

Same is also posted at:

http://www.nrahq.org/history.asp

In fact, for most of its history the NRA SUPPORTED gun control:

http://www.alternet.org/suprising-unknown-his...

"For nearly a century after, its founding in 1871, the National Rifle Association was among America’s foremost pro-gun control organizations. It was not until 1977 when the NRA that Americans know today emerged, after libertarians who equated owning a gun with the epitome of freedom and fomented widespread distrust against government—if not armed insurrection—emerged after staging a hostile leadership coup."

Facts can be tricky things...:)

Sorry bro, but those on the Left will most likely miss the point of your post entirely.

The Lefties are reading your post and going; "Yeah, and...?" as they feel both assignments of fault & blame are equally valid. Especially in the case of the 1st Amendment if it's speech opposing their ideology and policies. Look at how they are trying to vilify, defame, and destroy Dr. Ben Carson for his recent speech with Obama in attendance.

The struggle began with Thomas Jefferson who didn't want nonwhites to have guns.

Of course, today you can be black or white or green and have a gun as long as you can pass a background check.

Nice of you gun gnutters to want to sell to felons of all colors, though.
