Gays with Guns: A Growing Subculture?

Gays with Guns: A Growing Subculture?

There are 64 comments on the EDGE story from May 24, 2013, titled Gays with Guns: A Growing Subculture?. In it, EDGE reports that:

Gays and guns seem as likely to go together as Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. As a culture, even under attack, we are a peaceful lot -- you catch more bees with honey, right? "Wrong," says Gwendolyn Patton of Pink Pistols, a group that advocates gun ownership for the LGBT community.

I think those who will view guns as making them invincible will be very few. My observation among both my fellow gay men and my straight male friends is that we talk one way in public and another in private. Maybe many gay men and lesbians will talk about getting guns but I don't think a majority will actually go through with it. And even those who do will vary in their commitment to becoming comfortable with a gun. Either way I think this new attention on gays with guns will increase gun ownership among us and over time change the public perception about us.
I don't own a gun, nor do I want one, but once or twice I have been shooting in the desert or a shooting range with gun owners and I am a CRACK shot. I never miss the target and usually get the bulls eye, or hit every bottle and can on the rocks or fence post, which makes the heteros burn with shame and envy at my shootem' up abilities.

Yahoo is much worse. And every time I visit Topix my internet explorer stops working. I suspect that it is all the popups topix tries to get in front of me.
What we need is a moderated group where people have to sign up to post and if they are like some of the mindless trolls who post here they get banned.
Personally I like dealing with the hypocritical pew warming bigoted KKKristians. They haven't a clue what is in their Bible and it makes me feel fuzzy warm making fools of them and showing everyone how stupid they are.
I WISH there were more control over this site.

I love your bible quotes and am always amused at how ANGRY they are when you find something that blows their bronze age beliefs out of the water. Keep 'em up!

I switched from IE to Google Chrome a few months ago, and Topix works fine now on Google Chrome.

They're just leading you around by the nose and derailing our discussions. Their foulness causes various media outlets to opt out of using TOPIX as their forum service, thereby limiting outreach. It's just as effective as the formal censorship currently being imposed by the church-government coalitions in the Eastern Block.

Stop being their puppet.

If you're into feeding into the growing dependency on "the cloud".

Firefox (with a few additions) works fine.

My Glock 9 doesn't hurt my wrist at all. And I'm legally able to carry it concealed on my person.

Thank you for your suggestion. I also received the following:

""NEVER use IE for TOPIX.
Use Firefox, and install the following "Add-Ons":
Ghostery
Flagfox
Secure Sanitize
and
Adblock Plus ... with the following subscriptions after installation:
EasyList
Easy Privacy
FanBoy's Annoyance List
That will block most adware, trackers, and give you complete control over all Java Scripts""

I need a new computer and will take care of this as soon as I can. Thank you everyone for your help.

Thank you! Nicely said. I intend to keep 'em up!!!

Why here is one now, something all good bigots read to their children on Sunday mornings to show us how much they love their children:

2 Kings 18:27, " ...that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?"

i'm sposed to get another pc this week. This one has been giving me trouble the past few months. It's a weird problem. It has on-board video, and fairly often JUST the red pixels will go out. Sometimes for a few factions of a second. sometimes for a few seconds. sometimes for a few minutes. sometimes for a few hours. sometimes for a few days. it's completely random. and then for unknown reasons, the red pixels come back and it's fine for awhile.

I am making a point with sticking with XP. for my purposes, XP is the best os as far as I'm concerned. I started with DOS 3.0 and have used most flavors of Windows, and I like XP the best. I have vista on my notebook, and don't care for it. bought a pc last month with W7 and sent it back because i hated teh os so much. won't even consider W8 or anything past XP really.

And while some may rave about how great the later versions of windows are past XP, it really all depends what you use the pc for.

You'll regret keeping XP. Microsoft is about to stop supporting it.

Go with "Windows 7 ultimate edition" in the 64bit configuration. And think about getting a graphics card.

Vista was a trainwreck, and "8" is all about making us comfortable being enslaved to "the cloud", so "they" can find ways to charge us for everything. Remember, if it's stored elsewhere they can charge you for access to it.
