Boy, 3, fatally shoots self with uncle’s gun

Associated PressWed May 8, 2013 12:08 PM

TAMPA, Fla.— Authorities say a 3-year-old Florida boy has died after shooting himself with a gun he found in his uncle’s backpack.

The shooting happened Tuesday night in a bedroom Jadarrius Speights shared with his uncle at an apartment complex in Tampa. Authorities say the uncle, 29-year-old Jeffrey D. Walker, has been charged with culpable negligence.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether Walker had an attorney. His phone number was not listed and jail records didn’t give a lawyer for him.

Police say he has a concealed weapons permit.

Hillsborough County sheriff’s spokeswoman Debbie Carter says the uncle was not in the room when the shooting happened, but the child’s parents were there. The boy was taken to a hospital where he died.

Dad arrested after 4-year-old NJ boy accidentally shoots and kills playmate

Published May 14, 2013

Associated Press

TOMS RIVER, N.J.– Authorities say the father of a 4-year-old boy who shot and fatally wounded his 6-year-old playmate has been arrested and charged with having weapons accessible to children.

The Asbury Park Press reports that 33-year-old Anthony Senatore was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say on April 8 Senatore's son took a .22 caliber rifle from a bedroom and fired a single shot, fatally injuring neighbor Brandon Holt.

In addition to the rifle, four shotguns also were found in close proximity to ammunition and accessible to Senatore's three children.

Senatore has been charged with multiple counts of endangering the welfare of children and a charge of enabling access by minors to a loaded firearm.

He was released from Ocean County jail after posting $100,000 bail.

Yes sir, these morons who leave loaded, unsecured weapons accessable to kids deserve whatever happens to them. Sad that the kids have to be the victims of the parents sheer stupidity. They do not help the case for 2A supporters any better, and give the grabbers more ammunition (pun not intended)

4-year-old boy accidentally shoots, kills Iraq War veteran dad in Arizona

Published June 08, 2013

FoxNews.com

Authorities in northern Arizona say a 4-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his father at a Prescott Valley home.

Prescott Valley police say the shooting occurred just after noon Friday.

The 35-year-old man, identified as Justin Stanfield Thomas, and his young son were visiting from Phoenix and were at a friend's house.

Police say the boy somehow found a gun in the home's living room and accidentally fired it and a bullet hit his father, who was rushed to a hospital where he died.

The friend was reportedly Thomas' former roommate and it may have been a surprise visit to the home, MyFoxPhoenix.com reported.

The boy was taken to a police substation to undergo interviews, and did not appear to realize what he did, MyFoxPhoenix.com reported. The boy is now with his mother.

"At this point there is no indication of any foul play," Prescott Valley Police spokesperson Brandon Bonney told MyFoxPhoenix.com .

Thomas was an Iraq War veteran with the Army Special Forces and leaves behind two children, the news station reported.

According to one report, each year more than 600 children undergo lawn mower-related amputations, said the Amputee Coalition of America.

Another puts the figure at about 800 children run over by riding mowers and 75 people killed — one in five of whom are children, according to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission.

"No parent wants their child to be one of these statistics," said former CPSC Chairman Ann Brown. "Young children move quickly and are attracted to mowing activity, but they don't understand the dangers it poses."

Those who own cars and lawnmowers deserve what happens to them. To own one is sheer stupidity considering the death toll involved with them. What morons!

JACKSONVILLE, NC -

Friends and family are remembering the life of a 10-month old boy who drowned in a bathtub.

Monday afternoon was the memorial service for Alexander Froland, who died Wednesday morning at his home in Jacksonville.

Documents show his mother, Barbara Uncer, 23, left him unsupervised in a bathtub.

Uncer was charged on Sunday and made her first court appearance Monday morning in Jacksonville.

She is charged with one felony count of involuntary manslaughter and two misdemeanors: child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a child.

Uncer has two other children who were with her when Alexander died. She called 911 after seeing her baby with purple lips and bubbles coming out of his nose.

A mother in Tampa, Fla., was arrested after police say her 7-month-old daughter drowned when she was left unattended in the bathtub.

Sierra McMillan, 22, had placed her child in the bathtub Sunday with the water on when a cable salesman knocked on her door, according to a press release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

The cable salesman later told deputies that he could hear water running and a child crying in the background, but the crying stopped after only a few minutes. He says he spoke with McMillan for 15 to 20 minutes before she went to her bathroom, turned the water off, and came back with her shirt wet.

He said he stayed for a few more minutes before she asked him to come back a different time.

Later, the salesman saw deputies and emergency personnel at McMillan's home. He stopped to tell them what had happened earlier, according to the release.

An autopsy indicated that the baby died from accidental drowning. McMillan was charged with manslaughter and taken into custody Monday.

RIP to the kids. I'm sorry this happened to them.

As for the comment above:

It gives no anti-gun "ammunition" since it's the fault of the owner of the gun, not the gun itself. No different from leaving your kid in the car alone with the keys in the ignition and having it running, while you go elsewhere for a long period of time: it's not the fault of cars being available to people. It's the fault of the numbskull who negligently left the car running with their kid inside at the same time.

So the guy should've kept the gun on him at all times; after all, if a criminal comes at him in the house, out in the yard or out in the street nearby, what good is a loaded gun that's sitting in a pack, way inside the house?

So the anti-gun, anti-liberty, pro-fascist-government loving morons can ASSume this "taints" the people keeping and bearing our arms but, it doesn't. They're simply pathetic enough to grasp at such straws since they literally have no other LOGICAL argument left to fire at us in REALITY.

Next time government screws up, I'll be sure to say this is the reason why we should do away with having government altogether? lol! Only the clueless, simple-minded people would think and/or say such things.
