The principles enshrined in the Constitution do not change over time. But the application of those principles must evolve as society changes and as experience informs our understanding.
I.e. as technological means of surveillance became more sophisticated, for example, the meaning of “search” in the Fourth Amendment came to include invasions of privacy that do not involve a physical trespass. Equally, as fire arms technology changes the meaning of “to bear arms” takes on a whole new dimension. Constitutional interpretation is not a mechanical enterprise. It calls upon the public and the courts to consider text, history, precedent, values, changing social, economic, technological, and cultural conditions as well as the practical realities of the times.
The Constitution was written in a world without industrial mass production or interchangeable parts. It was a world without artificially-powered transportation or automated machines of any kind. It was a world where the means of production were distributed among the many, by necessity; hands were the only means of production, and each person only got one pair.
It was a world where healthcare that could actually save your life did not exist; “healthcare” was largely leeches and Mercury-based cures, surgery without anesthesia or antiseptics. It was a world where most people grew and hunted their own food or lived next to somebody who did.
It was a world where the concept of outsourcing labor or importing goods from China en masse was absolutely ridiculous. It was a world where any contact with another continent involved several months of treacherous voyage across an ocean without the benefit of electricity or steam power. There were no flushing toilettes, no power looms, no bicycles, no electric power, no precision laths etc, etc.
There was no such thing as mass production of goods. At the time our Constitution was written, everything was hand-made. A “factory” was a place where a lot of people sat in a room and did hand work. Sewing machines didn’t exist. Neither did cotton gins.
In 1787, even the concept of interchangeable parts was foreign. When Eli Whitney first demonstrated –some fourteen years after the Constitution was written– that it was theoretically possible for unskilled laborers instead of craftsmen to assemble guns from interchangeable parts, his audience was astounded. The audience, including John Adams and then-President Thomas Jefferson, was so astounded by the concept that at first they didn’t believe it was possible.
It would be another 50 years before the steam-engine replaced animal labor. That should tell you something about how late-18th century technology stacked up to ours of today. Let’s think for a minute about the pre-Whitney world for which the Constitution was created.
So let’s keep this in mind when we talk about the Founding Fathers’ intentions for our country. The Constitution would doubtless be much different if the same people had written it today. The NRA, with the help of gunloons, has been beating a dead horse to an unrecognizable pulp!! Technology has made the 2nd amendment redundant, unless one agrees to change it and allowing every man and woman access to the latest cutting-edge weaponry of mass-
The Constitution did not grant these rights, it simply spelled out they already existed and instructs the government and you that they can not be removed. Rights do not have an expiration date. Just as the slaves had the same rights as whites even though those rights were being infringed it did not invalidate those rights. Slaves had the same rights, they just had no way to defend them thus the whites infringed upon them but the rights were never removed. The latest cutting edge weapons are needed to protect those rights from any who would infringe on our rights today. The Africans had spears to defend against more modern weapons as today why would you allow one side (the government) to overpower the other the people)?

And it isn't the only state that does.
Wipe your chin, shug.
Then maybe YOU should have quoted one of those instead of lying about the one you did post...ignorant, lying, POS, extremist, "frustrated control freak".

The GOP is 94 percent white.

No one can accuse them of pandering to minorities.

Or of becoming the majority party.

Nope, no work here. I worked my a$$ off up until August 13 2016. The record breaking "great flood" brought that to an end. We lost our home, business, two vehicles, and a travel trailer.
After paying into the Federal Government for 30 years, FEMA denied us.
There is a lot of hoopla about Bush, but after Katrina, people were taken care of after paying into the system. Not now!
The final nail in the coffin will be when Social Security goes bankrupt. I've paid into that got 30 years as well, and will never see a dime of it!
