"Poll finds most voters blame Bush more than Obama for country's recession"

By Walter Alarkon

A poll found voters were twice as likely to blame President George W. Bush than President Obama for economic problems.

A new poll released Monday found voters were twice as likely to blame President George W. Bush, rather than President Obama, for the nation’s economic problems.

When asked whether Bush or Obama was responsible for the recession, 53 percent of likely voters said Bush and 26 percent said Obama, according to the poll from Third Way. Another 21 percent of respondents said they didn’t know.

Benenson Strategy Group conducted the survey from June 19-22.

Please think, for just one moment, about who has done more harm to the United States of America in the past 10 years, according to people who know something about the matter:

By Ezra Klein
From the New York Times

BUSH CONTRIBUTION TO DEFICIT:$5.07 TRILLION
OBAMA CONTRIBUTION TO DEFICIT $1.44 TRILLION

Bush New Costs 2002-2009

Iraq, Afghanistan Wars $1, 469 billion
Bush tax cuts 1, 812 billion
Non-defense discretionary spending 608 billion
TARP and other bailouts 224 billion
The fact is, it was both of them that have us in a hole! Obama has out spent Bush however.

Now for some truth from people who actually know something about this subject:
On the subject you mentioned of tax cuts for the rich, this week's NEWSWEEK (8/9/10), says:
"The Bush tax cuts remain the single largest cause of American's structural deficit...The Bush administration inherited budget surpluses from the Clinton administration.
What turned these surpluses into deficits? Three fundamental new costs: the tax cuts, the prescription-drug bill and the Iraq and Afghaniston wars.
THE TAX CUTS WERE BY FAR THE LARGEST, ADDING UP TO $2.3 TRILLION.
According to the CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE, nearly half the cost of all legislation enacted from 2001 to 2007 can be attributed to the tax cuts.
"Federal taxes, as a percentage of the economy, are now at their LOWEST LEVEL since the presidency of Harry Truman."
Then maybe DumBama should have let all tax cuts expire. What do you think about that?

According to the NYT, if DumBama got the tax increases he wanted (those making over $250,000 per year) it would only net the US 60 billion per year. We payout more than that in food stamps.

Forgetting the fact that Clinton was working with a Republican Congress during the tech bubble which helped his outcome greatly. Clinton decreased capital gains taxes which is what led to the so-called surplus.

Obama extended those tax cuts as I recall. But I guess that was ok, right?
As progressives like to cast stones about conservative's every thought and want is about Obama being black, is that why you feel that him extending the Bush tax cuts is ok for him?

There are direct taxes and indirect taxes. DumBama's attacks on banks, credit card companies and ATM's is an indirect tax. More fees for the responsible since he took efforts to insulate the irresponsible. What about those cell phone fees? I had unlimited internet service which will expire next month. Now I will have limited usage of the internet on my phone because cell phone companies were forced into giving out free phones with 250 anytime minutes per month to people that don't pay anything. My electric bill just went up. I guess that has nothing to do with DumBama closing down coal fired power plants and forcing remaining plants to spend millions of dollars to stay open. ObamaCare? Forget about it. Premiums are expected to go up 20% or better because of it.

Lots of hidden costs having this dictator as President, and we won't even get into tobacco usage where he forced the closure of roll-your-own cigarette shops, halted the American Indians from selling cigarettes via mail, and instituting a sin-tax on cigarette companies to provide medical care for children of families making up to $80,000 per year.

Then people blame Republicans because the economy is still sluggish.

If want less of something, tax it.

Not according the the US Supreme Court. If it were, they would have held that previous bans on assault rifles were an infringment.
They did on handguns in DC...they did on handguns in Chicago...those were bans on " a specific class of arms" and found unconstitutional. They couldn't have "held" what you say on the previous "assault weapon" ban because they didn't have case come before them. You can bet that if any AWB passes congress...they will see a case.

Yes when no facts can be proven the troll spin spin spin comes out
Prove that Zim attacked the perp.....
The 911 tape supports the fact Zim had a right to follow the perp.........215 suspect.......so the act of following the perp is not going to be a issue for the jury.....
For a conviction you will need to convince a jury that a big, strong, scary looking, drug using, foul mouthed foot ball playing tough guy did not attack Zim..........
But Zim attacked some skinny puny little boy..........But this boy was able to toss Zim on his back withe a single blow to Zims nose that broke it and blackened both eyes and then Zims head bounced on the ground at least three times
Then the poor kid fell down on his knees.......A inch from the gun.....
Then the evil monster security meanie killed the poor boy in cold blooded murder..........
Even a all black jury would be tough on believing that whopper
Unless you have something that proves another reality??
Zimmy killed Martin.

That's a damn, fine start son.

Do you have a source...?

Quotation: "The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it."

Variations: "The people will not understand the importance of the Second Amendment until it is too late."

Earliest known appearance in print: 2007[1]

Earliest known appearance in print, attributed to Thomas Jefferson: See above.

Comments: We currently have no evidence that Thomas Jefferson said or wrote, "The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it" or any of its listed variations.

http://www.monticello.org/site/jefferson/beau...

The above is from The Monticello site, home of Jefferson. It really doesn't help the cause to reiterate inaccurate information without checking for facts and sources. We can no longer accept things at face value...we need to confirm accuracy and provide sources that will support the information we put out.

Like this;

"CBS News and Charles Osgood trash the Constitution."

Actually, they didn't, But they didn't support it either. They did have Louis Michael Seidman, Professor of Constitutional Law at Georgetown University, that did trash it. He advocates for getting rid of the Constitution, or at least major parts of it...because "it gets in the way" of the gov't or the President.

"But what happens when the issue gets Constitutional-ized? Then we turn the question over to lawyers, and lawyers do with it what lawyers do. So instead of talking about whether gun control makes sense in our country, we talk about what people thought of it two centuries ago."

"Worse yet, talking about gun control in terms of constitutional obligation needlessly raises the temperature of political discussion. Instead of a question on policy, about which reasonable people can disagree, it becomes a test of one's commitment to our foundational document and, so, to America itself."

Proving a negative.

It's much more productive to use supportable facts and sources to support our position...not provide doubt.
