Survivors still hope for war claims passage

Guam was never given any (compensation) for the sufferings that we've had. The war reparations act would help out. It will help out a lot of people. THE news of the Guam war claims bill in Congress reaching another stumbling block have some survivors perplexed on whether the issue would ever be settled. via Marianas Variety

Why on earth would the US government give residents of Guam reparations for their "undue pain and sufferings" what a joke!, dies that mean the US should pay a Jewish people for what Hitler did to them? should the US pay the Iraqies for Husseins doings? In response to comments made by "reality", One question, where were you educated? HR 1595 is not requesting reparations for foreign citizens. Survivors of the Japanese occupation on Guam are American Citizens. During the Japanese occupation, thousands of lives were lost. Family history information can never be recovered and property was taken as a result of war between the United States and Japan. Chamorros (Americans) did not start it but did suffer because of it. You are trying to put the people of Guam into a category of foreigners who do not deserve reparations. The people of Guam then and now are citizens of the United States. I salute Madeleine Bordallos' efforts on behalf of the people of Guam.

The fact that these people are U.S. citizen does not matter. They do NOT deserve money from the U.S. because they suffered from the JAPANESE occupation. Maybe they should ask the Japanese for the money...

Why would the 'survivors deserve any kind of financial compensation. It was their parents etc that had to endure the problems from the Japanese occupation. Why should the survivors be rewarded?

What make you all so sure that the second stumbling block will go through to get the Guam War Claim from the U.S. Our ELECTED OFFICIALS should starve the JAPANESE ELECTED OFFICIALS to compensate the lost and suffering of many deceased Guamanians. The U.S. liberated us from the Japanese. Compensation package for the People of Guam should come from Japan's Economy. First of all, I am a surviving grand daughter of grand parents who were affected by the War. 3 of my 4 grand parents survived the war atrocities 1 did not -- my Mom's Dad. I assisted my Grandma Brigida Candaso San Nicolas with her war reparations claim back in the 80's and I've kept this claim alive by keeping up with the latest developments with the legislation. Both my Grandma Brigida and I felt it important to submit this war claim and to follow it -- sort of my promise to her as she passed away several years ago. I will not let her efforts go in vain. She was a young Mom forced to march through the jungles of the south, witness to her husband's violent death in a fox hole with 3 young daughters -- 1 of which died of starvation at the hands of the Japanese. Do you know that the Japanese civilians were compensated by the US Government? I agree that the Japanese Government should compensate Guamanians however, if the US can step in and help -- my family welcomes this. I applaud M. Bordallo and those in the past and present pursuing the reparations -- more power to all of you! I lost my grandfather and aunt -- nobody can tell me that this is not a loss to my family.

This a buyoff. The US doesn't want to admit to what they have done to the people of Guam in the way of the severe contamination. Bordallo is doing nothing but running interference for the US military. You should be suing the pants off of the US. Instead you'll hang your heads and accept whatever is presented to you by way of this Act
