Dear Mariposa, first of all I'm sorry for my late reply. You don't have excuse for asking any question. In fact, I am glad that you ask this kind of questions as I figure out what you guys know about us. Well, the Turkish civil law originated from the Swiss civil law and carried in 1926. I guess it explains everything!

i dont think that is so simple like you say!because of islam it can not be the same!maybe you used the swiss civil law as sample but for sure you changed it a little bit according to your local and religious traditions and customs!and thats ok,but the laws can not be a copy of another civilization aqnd culture!

Turkey is a secular country. You can't merry more than one woman and you can't divorce if there is no mutual agreement. If you want to divorce your spouse, you got to find a lawyer and take your case to the court. I don't care what the religious practices and customs say. As you focus on the exceptional cases, you seem to miss the big picture.

Dear Mariposa, you can ask any kind of question. I am not getting angry or offended by your questions. In fact, I like your straightness... There are a few guys around married with more than one woman. As the second marriage is illegal, they hide it though. They are really seldom and not appreciated by the public. These are what I called as exceptional cases.

thanks for your honesty as well.i dont do the guestions because i want to reveal something, but honestly for me is like strange that we dont know basic things for each other!we know the bad things of course, but my questions is more like .....trying to understand your mentality!i know that there is marriages like that, especially in small towns or villages, where the family and the wedding is something like buy and sell! but i can not judge it as greek according to my tradition which is totally different, because is another culture, but as a woman..i feel lucky...if you know what i mean!thanks!c u!
