There are 1 comment on the Fox Sports story from Apr 25, 2008, titled Slight drop in entries for golf's U.S. Open. In it, Fox Sports reports that:

“The last regular tour event I played in was at Turning Stone, and I shot 3 under and missed the cut on a 7,500-yard course”

Some of the names among the 8,390 entries for the U.S. Open might look familiar - Norman, O'Meara, Cook and Weiskopf. via Fox Sports

THE OPEN is always a treat to watch. You always hope for an unknown to come from nowhere and do well or maybe win it. Since that only happens in the movies, I feel Tiger or Phil are the ones to watch. The entries may have dropped in number but the Open is a tradition that will never grow pale. The Father/Son combos that are trying to make it lends a good story. Glad they mentioned John Cook in the article. I had wondered what he was up to these days. He is correct, when you are up against young guns on a 7500 yrd course it is time to move on.
