Charley Walters: Minnesota Twins have no plans to tinker with Targe...

Twins base runner Nick Punto, left, is congratulated by teammates Jim Thome, Joe Mauer, Matt Tolbert and Drew Butera after scoring Minnesota's fifth run in the bottom of the eighth inning against the Cleveland Indians at Target Field in Minneapolis on Wednesday July 21, 2010. Full Story

I'm sick of the whining about the dimensions of the park. The dimensions are the same for both teams, so who cares?

Batters at Target Field now have to earn their home runs. Mauer is a good enough hitter to make adjustments for this. Get well soon Justin!!

All we have heard are excuses. Big Joe is making top 5 money, and not producing top 5 results. Own up to it, and quit making excuses.

Joe, quit trying to pull the frickin ball. If Joe would just get back to slapping the ball, he'd be batting .350. Pitchers have him figured out. Joe gets pitched down and in more than any player I see, results are a grounder to first.

I've been a Twins fan since 1963 although I am a native Oklahoman, live here, and have never been in Minnesota. I've been thinking about how Target Field is affecting the Twins' play - especially their homerun-hitting. When I saw the headline on this article, I hoped to get some in-depth information about the situation - what the MLB rules are on changing a park's playing field configuration; how any such configuration changes could be accomplished logistically; what informed, science-based thoughts are about whether the new park is indeed affecting Twins power-hitting and, if so, how and why; etc. I am hugely disappointed by an opportunity massively botched.

Why hack up a beautiful stadium? That's like the city repaving the streets then tearing them up the following year to replace the pipes underneath. Makes no sense.

Move Tim Laudners desk and camera out of right field. His chrome dome is blinding people when they bat. At least move him when the Twins are at bat.

They just don't have enough power to hit the ball out of the ballpark. Simple. Look how short right field is.....They don't pull the ball!

Dear Bert:
You had a great and lengthy career as a pitcher. But the classy move is to stop personally whining about being in the Hall of Fame. This isn't a political campaign. That's why you have associates do it for you and you stay above the fray...but it's too late now.
Have some class and stop the groveling. Maybe you could use some of that time actually researching the opposing teams on the TV games instead of just telling us stuff you read in the paper that day.

Bert may actually benefit from the steroid era players who will not be competing with him for a spot. I also think that the fact that he is an announcer will help him because the sportswriters get a chance to see him and talk to him when the Twins are playing in their towns. I like Bert but in my humble opinion he is not a Hall of Famer.

Through my life as a player and baseball fan it has always been a rule of thumb that you don't throw a left handed batter a low inside fastball because he'll take it downtown on you----=I guess this is just another one of Mauers eccentricities that you have to put up with when you pay someone $23million a year.....

Sorry I thought I would just throw in a little common sense baseball for ignorant fans like yourself who don't have any input other than dumb a$$ remarks that show your lack of knowledge of the game. Never pitched a game in my life but do know the basics of baseball which is more than I can say for you. Unless your skills at writing are as bad as your knowledge of baseball I really don't know what I was begging for..........

You have exposed yourself as the ignorant fool you are. My comments were clearly directed at Blyleven whose constant whining about the writers voting him in has grown extremely old.

If i had meant my comments to you personally, I would have used the reply button and responded to your dumb as s comments below.

FYI - I pitched for a D1 team in college and reached Triple A (as a pitcher) in the pros. When you actually have a clue what the @#$% you're talking about, maybe then you can address me you p u n k.

We are all impressed at your failure to make it in the big leagues. Obviously you threw too many low inside fastballs to leftys---I'm a punk?? I'm 60 years old, attend 4 ball games a week and have proably forgot more about ball than you will ever know. So puke go back to the barn and continue to throw at the old tire and maybe you still have time---the Twins need a pitcher......
