Does beer enhance the experience of witnessing an athletic event live, or does it simply enhance revenues?

You reap what you sow.

This is why everyone hates New York. It is appalling that a few ruin it for most! My real problem is that beer is even being served...you want to drink, go to a bar. What kind of examples are you setting for the young children there? Can we not have a little pride in ourselves, and conduct ourselves with just a bit of class & dignity? This just typifies part the problem in the world today! Disgusting!!

Most LI's would be embarassed by this behavior. Those who post negative things about people here really don't know us. Those guys at the open today are jerks and real LI's know it.

Its unfortunate that a few drunk morons will stereotype the rest of the people from this area and add fuel to the fire as to why people hate NYers

Awww poor professional "athletes" - my heart weeps for their ceaseless woe and agony. Perhaps they can warm their hearts burning giant piles of money back at their mansions tonight.

If you go to a sporting event to get drunk you have a sad life.

Yeah this would never happen in Boston.Right!!!!Give me a break.Or how about the tournament out west where the drunk fans greet the players on the par three when they miss the green. Oh by the way CAROL they sell beer at these events to make money. The vast majority of fans there drink beer at the event but only a few get out of hand(hence the security).Newsday this is a nonstory.

Does anyone expect any different from New Yorkers? Manners are not taught in the North.

because the game of golf is such a dim witted spectacle, not even worthy of beer foam laced curses, I condemn such a waste of beer. Otherwise, perfectly hilarious.

That's right, Tiger has his own video game. I hear the next version will feature him hitting his driver at drunk fans and seeing how many he can take out in a round. Stupid losers think the only way they can watch a sporting event is by sucking down beers and saying stupid things to impress their moron friends. What a life.

That is a real breakdown in security. This kind of obnoxious behavior is way too common at sporting events in NY. It should not be tolerated at an event like the US Open and everyone else would have been much happier if they had been quickly given the boot. Instead we are embarrassed.

Buying a ticket doesn't give license to verbally attack the players -- most of the loudmouths couldn't tell the difference between a wood and an iron.

Really speaks to the suggestion that beer not be sold at public events -- if you need to get loaded to "enjoy" a sporting event, you're really not valued as a fan -- just go home and clean your place, it probably really needs it.

Is Tiger going to be okay?! I really hope it didn't stress him out too much or hurt his feelings cause, gee-whiz, he only makes millions of dollars for chasing a little white ball around all day and he can't deal with the hassles of the real world and the people in it. Maybe we can have those idiots beaten like baby seals. OR YOU CAN QUIT SELLING BEER AT GOLF TOURNAMENTS!

All the hecklers were from New Jersey. New Yorkers would never act like that. Should go back to prohibition for all who live in New Jersey.
