She is looking for a win anywhere she can. This tournament will/is not easy since the top 35 players in the world were invited. Her easy tournament will be in So. Korea when she plays in the Men's tournament, unless she has pulled out. Of course she won't win that tournament either but, with the weak field, she has a chance to make the cut. Boy, if that happens the staunch supporters will never shut up and the naysayers will offer all the excuses/reasons that it really isn't as big deal. If it happens I can't wait for all the noise to start.

Not a big fan of golf, but always love to hear about the local guys (Prez Obama, etc) and gals (Michelle, etc) finding success. Became a fan of Michelle's nearly 3 years ago (Nov 14, 2006) to this day of her first major win. Heard about her extremely large donation of new computers and other equipment for disadvantaged children on the Waianae coast. Michelle's success is our success because she gives back to the community in many ways. Go get'um, Michelle!

Oh by the way she did beat the best 35 women golfers!

<quoted text>I have been a real golf fan since my own days of learning to play golf in 1977 in college in Savannah, Georgia. I played off and on through the years and really took it back up in 1991. I began attending the Chick Fil A Tournament and in 1999 I began volunteering at the tournament. I did for 5 years.
The "job" I took was the driving range, because I thought that they ALL have to come to the range. So from 7AM on Monday morning until 7PM everyday, I would be on the range, inside the ropes. I got to talk to ALL of the players, chat, joke, take pictures, make friends. I saw them every year and they even gave me tickets for other tournaments on the East Coast. I caddied in the Pro-Ams and that is how I got to spend a day with Nancy Lopez, Sari Pak, Annika Sorenstam, Patricia Munier Labouc and many more...
I also was able to talk with and spend some time with Michelle Wie. I was quite aware that her father and mother were right with her on nearly every step. I, for one, was so extremely shocked that she turned pro when she did. Having made my observations of her, I knew that she was certainly not ready for the grind that the Tour held, teen phenom or not. As her parents love and care for her, I am certain, they made the WRONG decision of letting her turn PRO at such a young age. It reminds me of riding a beautiful race horse before it is time/grown and it actually harms the animal.
But that is what did happen. She did turn PRO. So, instead of playing college golf and getting the skills, golf and social, she has been thrust into the LPGA sooner than the horse was ready to run.
From my observations, she is a very sweet girl, truly nice and genuine. I wish her only the best in her career. I hope that she will be able to overcome the handicap that her father actually put her under by thrusting her into this TOO SOON. I wish her and ALL of the LPGA players, only the best. I am a total fan of the Tour.
Last year, I traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico to volunteer for the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. I really love women's golf. Unable to make it this year with my busy schedule, but I am hoping that in the Spring, I can make it to Morellia.
With all of this said, Can you give the young girl a break? The decisions were made by the father, BJ WIE. I think that she has done the very best that she can with what she has had with which to work. GO MICHELLE. I hope that this year ends with a W in your column.
I said it and I meant it.

WE're still right here. One win doesn't mean anything, I never said she wouldn't win, I just said that she is the the best in the world as you all claim. There are much better players out there than Wie.

They weren't better than her this week.

Atleast now you are adjusting your commentary about her from 'she's an overhyped phony who never was really that good to begin with', to 'Maybe she'll win one if the field is weak enough', and now to 'We never said she wouldn't ever win one, but that she's not the best'
Looks like backpeddling to me guys. LMAO

Why not just say right now how many times you think she'll win next year? One?, Two?, None?.
I say there's a good chance she'll win more than one. How's that? That's my prediction for her next year.
Hell, she may even once more 'THIS' year. lmao

yeh i can read. but soccer moms like you only say that because you like to put lipstick on to try to distinguish yourself from the pig. nice try but golf is the most popular and better supported financially. wimps and cheapos like you can't afford golf clubs, balls, gloves, and apparel. golf is for the people who work for a living instead of living off the dole.
You really live in your own little world, don't you?

The world is not centered around the USA so much anymore.

And in most countries of this world, soccer is the most popular sport (even though I hate soccer, mainly because I've seen soccer players fall down and scream in pain after being hit in the shin, and then 20 seconds get up like nothing happened, so wimpy, they wouldn't last two seconds in the NFL)

Use your common sense. Do you think people in the poor African countries give a crap about golf?

Do you honestly think they can afford a golf club set?

But even those countries have a soccer team

If you can't figure it out, I'll explain it for you: the reason why soccer is so popular is because all you need is a ball and something to represent the goal, it could be two trees or something
and that's why golf will never be popular, it's expensive, but soccer is something that anyone from any country in the world can participate in

If you watch the World Cup, you would know that soccer is the most popular sport in the world, and by far
and it unites people in the countries like nothing else

And I hate soccer, but even I admit that it is the most popular sport in the world

and another thing, you said before that golf is played by the best athletes

but seriously, Michelle Wie herself said a few years back, and I don't know if she still does the same nowadays, but she once said "I don't even like to run"

What does that say about golfers??

And I'll give you two more words to prove my point:
John Daly

You think he's a great athlete??
LOL

You think John Daly is in the same shape as Usain Bolt or any of the 100 meter and 200 meter Olypmic sprinters??

What does that say about golf??

Do you think anyone like John Daly, in his shape, could compete in the 100 meter dash in the Olympics?

The sprinters are in WAY better physical shape than golfers. It's not even debatable.

John Daly?

Please, please, please, please explain how John Daly is an athlete!

I don't backpeddle, I still don't think she's that good. Even a blind squirell finds a nut once in a while. You people think she is the best in the world, and think she is another Tiger Woods, I don't think she would make a patch on Tiger's a**.
