I think Couples made a great choice. Woods has put golf back on the map for the past decade, and has already achieved legendary status. I could care less about his personal life, but he may be in the top two golfers of all time.

And, quills, I'm sure Couples could care less about your respect or lack of.

The Nicklaus analogy was just plain stupid. NIcklaus hasn't played on the tour in ages. I doubt if Woods will be invited to play President's Cup when he's in his late 60's.

I see nothing wrong with the selection. Woods has been at the top for over a decade, he's already earned a spot.

A few years ago, the decision would have been a no brainer, at least from a TV viewership perspective. Tiger has never done all that well in the Presidents or Ryder's cup, but he was number one in money, he brought in the crowds, TV viewership was up, he EARNED his seat. Now that he's lost his focus, he is not making the cut or winning, and not getting into the top two or three pairings, so there's no TV exposure. He no longer meets the criteria and golf is a game that demands "what have you done for me lately".

I had watch Tiger play for many years, he is not a fan favorite, his lack of sportsmanship and ego has turned a lot of fans off. He uses profanity, breaks his clubs and yells at photographers and fans alike. He is no Phil Mickelson. C.J. Choi nor Arnold Palmer.
